Apologies if there is already a thread on this but I love hearing about gifts you are excited to give!

My mum asked for a book and I managed to get a signed copy, which I don’t think she’ll expect.

The dark chocolate toblerone a very kind mumsnetter sent me for my ds22. He's going to be so excited as he knows there's none in the shops near me.
You know who you are - thank you FlowersXmas Blush

My dad is in hospital and usually gets my mum lots for Christmas, I know she's not expecting anything this year from him, but I've done it all and got him to write the labels.

This made me nostalgic for the MN Secret Santa we used to do. I had no idea as one year a gift arrived addressed for the mumsnetter of the house. It was a doll for my DD. Still no idea who from or how they got my address.

I’ve got DH a bass guitar.
He is constantly suggesting we get one for either one of the children- I know it’s because he wants one himself but thinks it’s frivolous.

Reporting back - it went down just as I expected.
Last night when we put the presents out he looked at the box and went ‘nah’ then this morning when he open it and saw the Fender F on the box he was all ‘it’s not, it is, is this a bass guitar?’
Turns out he’s wanted one for 30 plus years since his best mate got one when the were teens.

Oh this is lovely!! That’s such a thoughtful gift, I bet he is delighted!

My boyfriend started wearing glasses this year and was reminiscing about a pottery dog that his grandad used to rest his on. I know the one he was talking about as my gran had the same one - managed to track one down on EBay and can't wait to give it to him 😊

My eldest is very musical and already plays piano. She asked for a "karaoke machine with a disco ball light attached to the top and a microphone on a stand".

She's honestly the sweetest, kindest, most hard working child. Tucking her into bed tonight she said to me
"I know it's a lot, but I know Santa will do his best and if he can't bring me that, I know he will bring me something that will make me happy, maybe just the microphone, but that's OK too".

Her little heart will explode when she sees that Santa did indeed manage to get her a karaoke machine, with the requisite disco ball light attached, and a microphone on a stand. It will make her year. Especially as her grandparents have paid for singing lessons for their gift to her 🥰

Yours has made me cry happy tears. I hope she (and you) have the most magical day.

I hope you're going to cut them in half!

(Not being a dick BTW, but toddlers and grapes give me the fear).

No, I get it. Thankfully he's moved on from that stage and gives them all a good chomp - I think the pop is one of the reasons he enjoys them!

But you'll be glad to know I kept a close eye on him just the same. Merry Christmas

My 10-year-old daughter has been saving up for months for an Instax camera. Every time we've gone into Currys she's pointed it out and said "I'm saving for this", she's planned where pictures she takes with it will go on her wall. I told her she'd probably have enough by the January sales to afford it and every time we've been out somewhere she's been saying "when I buy my camera, I'll come back here and take a picture of this" etc.

She was absolutely thrilled to find the camera and an accessory pack under the tree this morning 🥹 her gratitude absolutely melted me.

I got my son a smartball for hockey training - he is obsessed with training and practising and he is going to absolutely love it - it measures all your stats and sets challenges.

For my dd, I got her bright pink crocs, some fab clothes and some graphic pens - I think we've done well for both this year.

Tell me more about this!! You have a link? 😄

CrepuscularCritter · 25/12/2024 15:16

A novel written by Geno Washington. DH is a big fan, and didn't even know the novel existed. He's currently quiet on the sofa save for the rustling of pages and the occasional furtle into the chocolate l.

Haven't given it to him yet, we're going Santa gifts later in the week but I know it's going to be a hit!

I'm dying to see DS1 &2's faces when they see that Santa really is magic and HAS brought DS3 the easter egg he asked for - he's been adamant that he will get one and they have been telling him that not even Santa can do that as they are only made at easter time by the bunnies😂

Well DS3's reaction was exactly as we knew it would be - quite blase about the fact that Santa brought him the egg, in between being delighted as it's HUGE.
His brothers faces were a treat, they actually passed their own stuff by to marvel at his easter egg with mouths open, eyes wide and announcing "Wow, wow, look he really did bring you an easter egg, wow that's just so mad"
DS4 (10mths) got a little tool set and they sat him on the floor, gave him the plastic hammer out of the set and let him bang away at it to smash it and it was then a free for all😂 the baby loved his first taste of chocolate

For me I bought DH a trial one hour flying lesson. He is 70 and has wanted to fly forever. It was not even that expensive - £100 ish.

Bought DS 14 a watch with a steel bracelet. From Argos and he was so excited he cried.

Happy days for us. Smile
