Decided I want to go to Spain next Xmas, haven’t enjoyed uk this Xmas time plus need sun.

Will it feel “Christmassy”?
Anywhere else in Spain recommended?

Will be me and 2 teenagers.

Happy Xmas 🎄

Not at Christmas itself but mid Dec. I'd say felt like early autumn weatherwise so it was lovely, warm and sunny, can't remember the exact temp.

Colourful and lots of Christmas decs out, nativities, plus various saints day celebrations. Lots of music and amazing food. Was just what we needed.

Try Bolas ice-cream shops, small local company in Seville with delicious unusual flavours! I haven't been to Cadiz but if you're in Seville for a reasonable time, it could be worth a trip to the coast there.

We did Barcelona a few years ago. The decorations, food, ambiance etc were fantastic BUT they are very religious so shops closed early on Xmas eve and did not reopen until 27th December. Also a lot of the tourist sites were closed too. We were happy just to walk and look at all the fantastic buildings but think about how this might affect your teens.

The Spanish have a big celebration for epiphany - street carnivals etc, so it would be worth hanging around until then if you can.

We're going just after NY for a few days. Looking at pics the Christmas decorations look nice. Otherwise we're mainly just hoping for a bit more sunlight and warmth and mooching about the regular sights. I've never been away at this time of the year before, but the past couple of months have been so grey and rainy here.

New Year in Spain is family time. Most restaurants and bars close until after midnight then open after that. You’ll see families walking the paseo in the early hours and fireworks. I like it.
Also worth being around for this in January. This is the big day for children with street parades and sweets given out to children. https://www.barcelo.com/pinandtravel/en/three-wise-men-reyes-magos-day-in-spain/

Forgot to say, the Costa del Sol has the best weather in December in my experience. Tea shirt and jeans weather in the sun but will need a jacket for nighttime.

I’ve been to Seville during Christmas and the weather was fabulous!
Sure, there were tourists around, but it wasn’t that bad.
I wrote about it on my Spanish blog: Seville in winter
