I love a "I'm at the in-laws and I'm starving"
Also "dp didn't propose"

Obviously this is very lighthearted

Maybe someone could knock up a bingo card?

I WAS looking forward to the "Waah, my child didn't get such and such part in the Nativity" threads but there wasn't one 🥲 or I didn't see any.

I think that's because every child in the school is on stage, so as not to upset anyone!

Love a starving at in-laws thread so much.

Same here. I think I remember one year a poster hiding in the bedroom with snacks or similar?

😆

There was a good one last year about people putting up with really rubbish sleeping arrangements: "I'm in my uncle's utility room sleeping on a ladder resting between the washing machine and the tumble dryer with my six nieces sleeping underneath" sort of thing.

Rhodri Marsden used to do this and call it ‘Duvet Know It’s Christmas’ on Twitter. I’m not on Twitter any more since Musk turned it into a binfire but I’m going to pop in later in the hope he still does…

I think someone linked that last year and it was hilarious!

Latenightreader · 24/12/2024 16:06

Definitely odd sleeping arrangements - it lightened many a Christmas eve stress for me! I also like outrageous/CF behaviour as long as no Christmas is actually ruined in the process.

Nothatgingerpirate · 24/12/2024 16:07

The ones where people actually say that it all worked out, bit of fun for everyone and no drama.
Naïve?
😂

Melodyfair · 24/12/2024 16:08

@BusySittingDown oh god yes if you or anyone finds the facebook tat threads please link them on here, haven’t seen any this year, love them!

Kneidlach · 24/12/2024 16:09

The performative undereaters are always good value. Maybe this year they’ll jazz it up with some unnecessary anti UPF posts as well.

The ungrateful ones who don't like their presents.

Yes the 'DP bought me a 5 carat diamond ring but it's not my favourite cut, when can I ask him to return it?' ones

AuntieJoyce · 24/12/2024 16:11

No card or gift from my as yet unborn baby

AuntieJoyce · 24/12/2024 16:12

Has anyone tried to ban their vomiting stepchildren yet this year?

Oh I've seen a vomiting dds boyfriend one I think. And someone else's four year old vomited once so everyone says they have to cancel Christmas

I’m desperately hoping for a complaint about a relative’s performative under-eating! 🤞🤞

Oh yes, those are always good! Everyone else’s food consumption is definitely all about me and making me feel bad about eating four plates of food and they are definitely anorexic/disordered/terrible people if they eat any less than me. 😂

IKnowAristotle · 24/12/2024 16:16

And the hungry stuck at their ILs people are always breastfeeding.

I also like the ungrateful present threads because because I can feel smug about my completely unromantic system of telling DH exactly what I want.

I read somewhere that he's doing it on Bluesky this year.

An update on the sil that wants op gifts, tells other guests not to eat too much as she wants to take the leftovers home.

DowntonNabby · 24/12/2024 16:19

Manky green turkeys. Starving at in-laws. Getting a regifted gift from MIL.

Simonjt · 24/12/2024 15:50

“O M G my turkey is rotten” when in reality they’ve failed to realise turkey is actually quite smelly unlike chicken

My boyfriend proposed but didn’t do it in this exact way with this exact ring, so I’m going to sulk and ignore him as thats how you treat people you love if they don’t get every 100% correct in your view

”I’m so stressed making this incredibly difficult meal” its a roast dinner, get a grip

”I miss x relative on christmas” reply “well you should count yourself lucky my entire family were murdered and I live in a bin”

”My baby looked at some blue cheese, do I need to take them to A&E?”

"and I live in a bin" made me snort 😂😂
