I forgot 😭

Me and my family are having our Xmas day today. Well this afternoon. Feels a bit odd to open gifts at 4pm ish. Anyway I forgot the hdmi cables for the kids tv/console 😭

And I have a bad feeling that ds 9 is going to throw a strop because I got ds8 a ps5. Wish I just got the both xbox now so they both have the same 😭 i got them an Xbox as a joint present for their birthday but ds 9 kept hogging it so I got them a console each. But I should have got them the same..

And by bringing Xmas day forward a day i have sort of fucked up. It means i will have adult dd and gs staying tonight and tomorrow night. Where normally it's only the one night. Plus shes got to bring her puppy with her . So I'm going to have 3 dogs in my house. Plus 9 people that's going to be a madness ffs.

I'm still excited though fuck knows why with that madness 🤣 I got to get off my fat arse and do something soon

Can't someone pick up the cable on route to yours? They may even sell them at services, petrol stations and maybe an electrics store is open?

Sounds like a bonkers day enjoy.

Itsaswelltime · 24/12/2024 10:45

Might a neighbour or local friend be able to loan one for today?

couchparsnip · 24/12/2024 10:47

Do you have a big supermarket nearby where you can get the cables? That's something that's fairly easily fixed if you have the transport. Can your adult DD sort that out for you? Presumably they have a car?
I'm not sure what's going on with the consoles? You have an x box already that they are supposed to share and you've got them a console each for Christmas, or just a PS5 for DS9?

You get your adult DD and GS for an extra night? That's a good thing!

Sounds hectic but it will be fun I'm sure!
Good luck xx

Just the ps5 for ds8. Has ds9 took over the xbox so they will now have a console each .

No its not a good thing to have dd /gs an extra night. Well it could be just depends how things roll. Hopefully it will be a good vibe

Do you have a local Facebook page, we have loads of spare HDMIs and would be happy to lend / give you one if you posted on the local Facebook page.

What has DS1 got to compare to DS2s PS5?

Harrumphhhh · 24/12/2024 10:57

Any neighbours with kids? If my neighbour texted me this, I’d probably be able to find a spare cable.

Or temporarily unplug something else? (Still got a DVD player?)

Harrumphhhh · 24/12/2024 10:59

If the Xbox is technically joint, then I think I’d present the ps5 as joint too. Giving one child a ps5 without giving the other something comparable seems a recipe for disaster!

bigkidatheart · 24/12/2024 11:05

Use the one off the old xbox. Do you not have one laying around somewhere in a draw from an old sky box or something?

Ds9 asked for a Wii for xmas so i got him a will bundle with games etc . But its still not a ps5 is it 😭.

Yeah the xbox was meant to be a joint present but it didn't really work out well. To be honest . It just caused problems really.

Fuckssake, really? Three consoles between two primary aged kids. They are unbelievably lucky. Relax!

DoAWheelie · 24/12/2024 11:19

The ps5 will come with a HDMI cable - I got a new ps5 a few weeks ago and mine had one in the box.

It's better than they have different consoles in my opinion - each console has exclusive games not available on the other so between them they'll be able to play almost everything.

They definitely are . But still have a feeling ds9 will have a,tantrum....hopefully it will just be a short lived one and we can get on with the day . Plus he's got what he asked for.

Why do you celebrate a day early? What will you do tomorrow instead? I kind of like the idea of doing it early

It feels very odd doing it a day early. I'm not really feeling it to be honest. I think it would have felt better to do Xmas dinner today then gift opening tomorrow. But adult ds is working today until 2pm as long as he can get away ... then tomorrow he works from 2 till 11pm again depending if he can get away . So today seemed best day to do it.

Have you not done gifts yet? If not i would have the meal today then gifts and brunch tomorrow then let you ds go to work. Best of both worlds

No that does not work. Because ds would probably like to open gifts relax and have a drink or 2. He can't do that if we gift open tomorrow. It would all feel rushed

I’d have done Christmas dinner this evening and gifts in the morning in this case.

Surely the whole day doesn’t revolve around one person that has to work. And a drink after dinner I get, drink after gifts not so much. You have from morning until 1/2pm to open gifts. That’s not rushed with no dinner to prepare.

I want everyone to enjoy it that includes him. Everyone else is flexible because they do not have to work or be anywhere. It's not just about the drink it's about the whole Xmas vibe .

i don’t think you should just passively accept that your 9YO will have a tantrum - he’s got an Xbox and got the WII he wanted for Christmas. Your youngest has a PS5 because he couldn’t use the Xbox, any tantrums from DS9 and the Xbox or WII would be going away - 9 is plenty old enough not to behave so ungratefully! But yes probably would’ve got them the same 😬😬 hopefully he’ll react better than you think!

I agree with PP and would do dinner and drinks this afternoon, and then gift opening tomorrow morning and have a lazy day until adult DS goes to work.
