Morrisons have delivered my Christmas pork with use by date of 24th.😂
Any ideas what I can do?

Cook it today and then reheat it tomorrow.

Boredlass · 24/12/2024 09:36

cook and eat it as normal. Nothing will happen

andymary · 24/12/2024 09:37

Just cook it and eat it as you normally planned to, it'll be fine :)
Merry Christmas to you!

Thank you. I think I will cook it and reheat it tomorrow.

I wouldn't cook it today and reheat. I'd take it out of the packaging and leave it on a plate in the fridge and cook as normal tomorrow.

It will be absolutely fine.

I wouldn't cook it today and reheat. I'd take it out of the packaging and leave it on a plate in the fridge and cook as normal tomorrow.

I'd do this but I'd absolutely be contacting them asking for a refund or discount. One job Morrisons! One job!

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 24/12/2024 09:48

Don't reheat it will be dry. Just cook it tomorrow.

Alittlebitfluffy · 24/12/2024 09:50

One day will be fine

Motherlandatemyhomework · 24/12/2024 09:52

Aghhhhh. I don't know what to do now. So two options, cook it today and reheat it tomorrow or just cook it tomorrow.

MintSpiesAtTheReddy · 24/12/2024 09:54

I'd cook it tomorrow.

CamillaCanterbaum · 24/12/2024 09:56

Just cook it tomorrow. My beef for stew arrived with use by date yesterday. I'm cooking the stew today as usual. One day won't impact anyone cooked through!

TallulahBetty · 24/12/2024 10:02

Smell it and look at it. If all normal, it will be fine.

slightlydistrac · 24/12/2024 10:07

With beef I'd risk it, but definitely not with pork.

I wouldn't be all that happy about cooking pork that had a use-by date of today either, not until I'd given it a really good sniff test.
fat chance of me being able to smell anything at the moment with this damn flu

Mumdiva99 · 24/12/2024 10:08

It will be fine. Give it a sniff....if all OK will be OK. Cook it tomorrow.

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 24/12/2024 10:08

Celebrate Christmas Day today then do Christmas Eve tomorrow.

CatsorDogsrule · 24/12/2024 10:16

I wouldn't risk leaving until tomorrow, because what is your alternative if it is off, as no shops will be open?

I would cook today, slice and reheat tomorrow in the oven, using some slightly diluted gravy and covered in foil to keep moist.

Cantonet · 24/12/2024 10:19

Pork goes really quickly unlike beef/lamb. I would cook it in a sauce like pulled pork or something similar so it doesn't dry out.

Georgie743 · 24/12/2024 10:21

Can you swap your Xmas eve and Xmas day meals?

AEP123 · 24/12/2024 10:22

Cook it tomorrow. Do we really think they give a use by date where it’s not safe to eat literal hours after its expiry. It will undoubtedly last longer than 24 hours, otherwise a lot more people would have gone off meat by the expiry if they left it until the last minute.

RabbitsEatPancakes · 24/12/2024 10:23

I'd cook it Xmas day. It's not going to turn poisonous on the stoke of midnight.

It'll be dry and horrid if you reheat it.

MumonabikeE5 · 24/12/2024 10:23

I would have expected to cook a ham today or yesterday for Christmas.

if it’s to roast I would make sure it’s kept cold and would think it would be fine for tomorrow.

but I would be pissed that they didn’t give me much time, what if it were to be intended to be roasted on Boxing Day .

IDontHateRainbows · 24/12/2024 10:24

I'd cook it but I'd also be asking Morrisons for a refund

itsgettingweird · 24/12/2024 10:26

How long does it take to defrost?

One option is to freeze today and then take out before bedtime so it's defrosted in time to cook!

So just freeze for next 12 hours of so!

Or I'd put it in slow cooker on low over night and roast in the morning to crisp it?

If I'm honest though I probably wouldn't have even noticed and just cooked it tomorrow oblivious 😂

HellofromJohnCraven · 24/12/2024 10:26

I'd cook it tomorrow without a second thought
I'd also ask for a refund!

Chrismaslights · 24/12/2024 10:26

Like pp I would cook today, slice and store in the fridge in a dish covered in gravy.
you can reheat tomorrow and it won’t be dry
