Morrisons have delivered my Christmas pork with use by date of 24th.😂
Any ideas what I can do?

I was going to get several puddings for our big family get-together from Morrisons in the past few days, and lots of them - very clearly labelled/intended as Christmas food, which they never sell at other times of the year - had use-by dates of Christmas Eve or before.

At least I was in the store, though, so I had the luxury of knowing the score and deciding not to buy them.

If you have a delivery on Christmas eve you will be getting what's been left over from the people who went in to the shop and bought products in the last few days. They are obviously going to choose the longer shelf life

It is only one day out. Sell by dates aren't to be taken that literally. They don't suddenly go out of date on the stroke of midnight. We need to use a bit of common sense here.

Cook it tomorrow! It will be fine.
When did the order arrive? Did you just notice the date? If it arrived in the last two days I'd definitely complain. If it arrived last week then fair dues.

That sounds like the most disgusting thing I’ve ever heard. And a far greater risk of food poisoning than just cooking tomorrow

And yet it was recommended by people who have worked in catering and have completed food safety courses (including myself).

If chilled and reheated within the correct times and to the correct temperatures, there is minimal risk and is considered safe in the industry.

I've had lots of meat go off before the use by date, so I try not to wait until the last day. Some stays fresh beyond the date too, I use my senses and judgement. I just wouldn't risk the very real risk that my main dish is off when there are no other options as the shops are shut on Christmas Day.

Aghhhhh. I don't know what to do now. So two options, cook it today and reheat it tomorrow or just cook it tomorrow.

Cook it tomorrow. The meat will be more succulent than if you reheat it. Chilling and reheating is less safe.

Thank you for all your suggestions everyone.it was delivered yesterday. I have asked for a refund, I think they're processing it. I still haven't decided what to do!

I wouldn't risk eating it. I'm well aware that expiry dates are estimates but pork is one that I wouldn't risk

Morrisons use a warehouse for their deliveries. It's only their click & collect which uses store stock. Different for other supermarkets of course but that's how Morrisons do it

Did you eat it and live to tell the tale??
