As always on days off, I'm starting my day with my cuppa, in my kitchen spot. The kittens have been fed & are mooching about the kitchen atm. There's no noise at all from the girls so I'll check they're awake in a mo.

We're off for our usual Christmas Eve walk into town to the market, for our veg and visit to the cheese monger, and stop off for a coffee somewhere.

We'll get the bus home & should be back around midday ish to prep tomorrow's Christmas dinner and nip for a bottle of wine for me. We probably need milk too.

Tonight's tea will be something quick & easy, followed by gingerbread house for afters 😋

Then showers all round, and relax for the evening 😊

What about all of you? 🎅

Been awake early since 5.45 but slept through so feeling refreshed! Have so far tidied the kitchen again!! Put the tumble dryer on and now the washing machine. Enjoying the peace and quiet (dog and dd still asleep) and dp at work until 10.30am.

Need to collect presents and food from dm house for tomorrow, she's kindly been storing it all for us.

Dd and I might mooch into town for a bit and a coffee/ hot chocolate. Then home - early dinner and later waffles and ice cream whilst watching muppets Christmas carol.

Once dd in bed might open up a bottle of Prosecco, if I'm not in bed before her!

workingmumguilt · 24/12/2024 08:04

Currently sipping a cuppa whilst 10 and 6yr old watch tv.

Today will be cleaning/tidying and maybe some baking. Might go to a local free light display at 4ish to get some fresh air and wear the girls out before bed.

Then DH and I will put on a film and do the last wrapping (stocking stuff which is the fiddliest!)

gingercat02 · 24/12/2024 08:06

Working until lunchtime, click and collect shop at 2, then and afternoon of pottering in the kitchen with a glass in hand.
DH and DS are off, and they will do the chores this morning.
Tonight will be Christmas telly, takeaway, and lots of wine 🍷
Have a good day, whatever you are up to 🎄🍾🥂🎁🫎🎅

Today will be mostly cleaning and prep for tomorrow as I’m hosting. Think my Dad travelled up yesterday and is staying with other family but will pop in. Later, I am going with my youngest to see Mufasa at the cinema.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 24/12/2024 08:10

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I've been to Tesco and got everything I need. It's not much because I'll be going to my dd tomorrow. However, no queues and helpful and friendly staff made a difference. Shortly I need to go to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription. Then a quick visit to the garden centre for plant gifts which I'll then deliver. I'll probably take my brother's present to him too. This afternoon will alternate between housework and naps as I had a rotten night's sleep. A merry Christmas to you all

onwardandupwards · 24/12/2024 08:12

We are off to a father Christmas on the farm day with youngest 2, 10am until 4pm. Then home for disco baths ( glow sticks, bubble machine ect) fish and chips and the eldest 2 want to play uno later. My sister and her husband are coming down later tonight to put together a large dolls house and a few other toys for me. Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas Eve 🎄 x

EsmeeMerlin · 24/12/2024 08:14

I am going to start the day doing some Christmas cleaning. Then doing some Christmas activities with my children. Later on we are going to Church and meeting my mum. Home for Chinese.

Glenthebattleostrich · 24/12/2024 08:15

Got up early to check the Christmas Ham (huge ham, slow cooked for 18 hours, the house smells incredible).

This morning we will decorate the Christmas cake, walk the woof and bake some bread. This afternoon we will wander into town, have a christmas drink, some food and go to the cinema. Stop to buy more Bailey's as the bottle accidentally got half drunk yesterday with friends!

Home around 6, walk woof then Christmas baths / showers and then ham sandwiches for tea with Bailey's. Check what Santa is up to then bed.

HelpMeGetThrough · 24/12/2024 08:15

Taking it easy this morning, as I went out for the first time yesterday post surgery and someone bashed into me at ASDA, so feeling sore.

Will wrap some presents a bit later. Brother is coming around this evening, which will be nice. OH has nipped out to get ASDA pizzas for tonight.

I'm very tempted to nip to B&Q to get some coloured LEDs for the back window. We have them on the front and people have said they look nice. Can't make my mind up on that the minute.

Oh and bleed some radiators and top up the boiler. Rock and Roll Christmas Eve! 😁

InfoSecInTheCity · 24/12/2024 08:16

Currently sat waiting for the men at the Garage to put a new tyre on my car, realised yesterday it was going flat and figured I needed it fixed before the Xmas driving

DappledThings · 24/12/2024 08:16

DH is taking the children into the city with his parents, SIL, her partner and his DC.

I'm staying at home to walk the dog but really she could be left. He made it up for me as an excuse to get some alone time because he knows the next few days are going to be far too full on for my introvert self and I need the space.

tolerable · 24/12/2024 08:18

IsoIsobaby20 · 24/12/2024 08:18

I finished work yesterday after a manic month so I'm having a slow start today.

DH has already been to the shops for last minute bits. I'm getting up and making chocolate puddings for tomorrow then dog walk for an hour or so.

DS2 wants to play pool with his cousins and has begged me to go along too so I will.

DS1 and I are going to Christine service at 5z. Need to pop out to our local pub as I've made a Christmas cake for a regular.

Home for about 6 for an easy tea and a glass of wine and watch elf with the boys.
I love Christmas Eve.

lucysmam · 24/12/2024 08:19

@GameOfJones it started many years ago as a way to tire them out with a nice early start & has evolved into a mooch & coffee really.

@Mumdiva99 they're almost 18, and almost 15. Dd1 had to be woken up from snoozing her alarms 🤣

Morning,

Sat drinking my first cup of coffee of the day whilst everyone else is still asleep. Thankfully, ds1 is much better now, but couldn't get a good seat at the cinema for today so will have to wait after Christmas now to see Sonic 3 🤦‍♀️

Need to cook the chicken for tomorrow so I only have the veg to do. Just gonna go with the flow today.

Tonight is new PJs, a takeaway and a film 🙂

isthesolution · 24/12/2024 08:21

Happy Xmas Eve.

This morning is an hour of house work to be tidy for father Xmas.

Then this afternoon we bake for father Xmas, make a gingerbread house (well chocolate this year) and this evening go to my mothers for Xmas buffet and family games.

Then home around 830 to read the night before Xmas and put out stockings and cakes before having a glass of wine and watching a Xmas movie whilst the children nod off. Then Santa duties before bed.

AuntieMarys · 24/12/2024 08:23

Taking gifts to dh's grandchildren this morning.
Day drinking from 1 in our favourite bar. Pizza restaurant booked 6pm.
Home by 7.30. Netflix and bed by 9.
Not seeing people then for about 10 days

ChaosHol1 · 24/12/2024 08:24

Chocolaterocketcake · 24/12/2024 07:36

I always watch these threads but never contribute! I was up with teething 10 month old from 1am-4am then both my boys were up at 5.30am. DH had them while I had an extra 20mins but he had to leave for work at 6.15am.

So I’m currently sitting on sofa with a coffee, 3yo watching tv, 10 month old now full of beans and crawling around the room.

I have a parcel to collect today, and a prescription, motivation to get ready and go out is rock bottom at the moment though!

Aw bless you the early years are exhausting. I hope your days nice and peaceful as it can be. Merry Xmas 🎄

MotherOfBeardedDragons · 24/12/2024 08:36

Sitting drinking coffee in total peace, I was annoyed my excitement woke me up early (huge woman child), but it's nice to have some calm before the chaos.

Dropping DD17 at work, then 1hr drive out to MILs with gifts. Then need to come home and clean, we haven't had time to do anything so that will be fun with. Probably then picking DD1 back up and having family over for a big buffet.
Tonight we will be sitting waiting for DD2 to sleep so Santa can come and bed as early as possible- which probably means about 1am 😂

I always love when OP describes her kitchen spot and imagining what it looks like 😂🤦🏻‍♀️I have a micro kitchen and am envious. Hope everyone has a lovely day

Justonedayatatime11 · 24/12/2024 08:39

Morning @lucysmam!

I'm still lazing in bed atm. Need to shift my bum! Drop DD to the yard en route to collect the turkey and hope M&S isn't a total nightmare.

Home to make some lunch to drop to DD at the yard before she has jumping this afternoon, followed by me.

Something very easy and quick for tea tonight, I've got 1 present left to wrap (assuming it arrives!) and an early night. 7 for lunch tomorrow so any prep that needs doing today will have to be done too.

shockeditellyou · 24/12/2024 08:41

Supposed to be Carol service and a few last minute cooking chores (and present wrapping) but might be the vet. Guinea pig looks like they have hay poke…I’ve had a look and can’t see anything, and have given some drops left over from last time this happened. Why do they always do it on bank holidays!

Zippedydodah · 24/12/2024 08:42

Good morning @lucysmam and all, I hope today goes well for everyone.
having a coffee before getting on with the housework, the first load of washing is on I need to do a general clean and tidy through. DH says he’s walking the dog.
We’re having a very quiet Christmas, I’m happy watching everyone else enjoying theirs!

legosnowqueen · 24/12/2024 08:46

Happy Christmas Eve @lucysmam & everyone!

Working through a long list, including a bit of work to finish this morning & a few bits to buy. Two lots of presents to drop off - will combine this with dog walks.

DH is working. DS aged 18 is popping into work for Secret Santa (works in a restaurant part time).

Looking forward to relaxing over a lovely meal with D sis in law at our little local Italian - mostly opens days only now so we were incredibly lucky to get a table.

Did I mention the ironing pile??

SardinesOnGingerbread · 24/12/2024 08:46

Sitting in bed after very long night with sick 10 year old. Enjoying reading the Christmas prep x

Kim82 · 24/12/2024 08:52

Good morning everyone. I’m just enjoying a cup of tea in relative silence as there’s just me and dd10 up. Dh and dd20 are both out at work til just after lunch and dd17 is working for a couple of hours this afternoon til 6pm.

I need to do the little bit of housework I didn’t manage yesterday (hoover upstairs and clean the bathroom) then I can relax for a good few hours. My siblings and their families are coming round this evening for a buffet and to exchange presents so I’ll need to start sorting the food around 4pm then once they’ve gone we’ll all clear up, watch a bit of tv then dh and I will send the dc upstairs for the night so we can lay the presents out before heading to bed as no doubt dd10 will be up super early tomorrow morning! This is the first year of her not believing in Father Christmas so we don’t need to keep running up and down the stairs to make sure she’s asleep before getting the presents out!
