We are off for a weekend in Chester at the end of January, just me and DP. Where would you suggest we visit? And any good restaurant recommendations?

The new indoor market is fab. Great atmosphere. Lots of different food outlets. Live music on Friday nights. I can highly recommend the Thai!

Also a new eating and bar area on top of the multi story car park on Pepper Street, with curling too!

If you can get tickets for anything at Storyhouse, it’s an amazing venue. Also nice for lunch or a coffee and next door to the indoor market.

Artezan also a lovely place to eat. Or Opera bar and grill.

Walk along the river and go on the boat tour.

The Ruan Orchid serves amazing Thai food. Beer heroes is a nice little pub but only if beer is your thing, wouldn't go for wine. A walk around the walls is lovely and I've always loved the Roman gardens. Fabulous breakfasts at the Flower Cup

Don't forget the Grosvenor Museum, a fabulous place with lots of important finds from Roman Chester. Telford's Warehouse by the canal is an excellent place to eat. A walk around the city wall is not to be missed as is a visit to the Roman amphitheatre. If you like Italian food then Ristorante Sergio on St Werburgh street is superb. Also, don't miss the cathedral, which is a stunning gothic masterpiece. Inside lookout for the shrine of St Werburgh, on it is a lovely miniature carving of a small dog scratching his ear.

Was there a couple of weeks ago. One of the stormy weekends so didn't get to wander. But 2nd Ryan Orchid for Thai was so yum. Bridge street coffee for brunch. Also Chester Art Centre was lovely to see work from local artists plus I got my 'to mummy, love from mummy' Christmas present there. Can't wait to unwrap it and hang on the wall! Will go back when it's less Storm Bert!
