I've just had a polyp removed and awaiting hysteroscopy to check no more up there. No symptoms and probably benign but I'm glad I went to my routine smear on the basis that getting this dealt with before it caused problems is better than the alternative. I've had multiple friends who've had cervical cancer, with good outcomes, on the basis of screening. Go! It'll be five minutes of discomfort.

They only look for hpv now and dispose of sample if negative. You can buy home tests for hpv.

Horrible,painful things. I hate them, but I do them anyway as they are important. It is only a brief moment of pain (although awful at the time).
