Cold/flu/more serious?

Please help I'm becoming really quite panicked.

Beginning of November I developed mild sinusitis and a dry cough. I self treated and both went away. Cue three weeks later and a nasty virus is going around at work - fever, aches, shivers, fatigue, no appetite and a worse mucus cough.

Went to doctors and got antibiotics for sinusitis she said chest was clear. 10 days later I'm feeling nauseous, lacking energy and my cough is slowly going. I assume I've just had a virus or two but I'm
Starting to wonder why I still don't feel well? Any advice Sad

Covid is notorious for not going away properly for ages (it's not even officially long covid till you've had it for more than 12 weeks) so perhaps that?

Thanks for the reply. I did a Covid test a week ago and it was negative.

You can have ongoing symptoms from covid long after you've stopped testing positive.

I'm not saying it has to be that though, just that it might be.

Thank you for replying. I'm just feeling miserable at the moment and have no energy or appetite. I'll research long covid x

I hope you feel better soon. Lots of rest is always good!

There is a thread of all of us sick humans.. come over and join us.

That does sound similar to others, it seems like we've all have 2 bugs or just one nasty one that keeps changing.

Thanks both, better than I was but not anywhere near back to normal. Thanks for replying and letting me know about the other thread!

Sounds to me like you've had one bug after another. There is a horrible fluey virus going around at the moment - two of us in the family have it. I at least felt better enough today to be able to enjoy Christmas, but dd's dp has been ill in bed all day. Bummer. We're going to have another mini Christmas when he's feeling well enough to open his presents.

I think we underestimate how often viral illness takes to fully clear up. And you’ve been exposed to at least two separate ones in recent weeks. I don’t think you need to be panicking OP - you say your cough is clearing up. After having Covid I got nausea and a very acid stomach for about 2 weeks. Rest up, drink plenty of fluids, take some vitamins and try to stop worrying about it or even thinking about it. Think of nicer things and one day soon you’ll realise you feel alright again.

Thanks both, that's really kind. I've been under quite a bit of stress recently that doesn't have a clear end in sight so I think that's not helped, I run myself ragged doing things I feel I should so it's a good time to reevaluate what I do for myself (that's healthy!)

Ah yes stress doesn’t help. That sounds like a good plan OP. There’s a difference between a normal amount of doing things for others and setting yourself on fire to keep others warm. Don’t do the second one 🤗 Hope you can take a break now Christmas Day has passed.

Thank you. I'm just watching films today with the children playing. Hope everyone who is feeling ill feels better soon x
