I’ve not cooked duck before, and two fowl seems overkill (literally). Lamb seems like an Xmas/Easter mashup. If I do beef I’ll have to do Yorkshires. I also have a large sprout stalk to roast, a venison stew, fake ham, fake pigs in blankets, real pigs in blankets, fake chicken roast, stuffing balls, a horse, a giraffe and a hippo to gut.

I’ve lost it haven’t I 🙄

That’s an awful lot of food fir six people. Four types of meat!

Fuck would be very unusual for Christmas dinner!

If you hadn't have quoted I wouldn't have noticed that in time to edit! Thanks!

You don't need three roast meats for six adults.

I’m doing three for five adults (turkey, ham and beef). It will all be eaten over the coming days!

If you swap to a venison fillet instead of venison stew then you will have 3 meats and it's by far the easiest as it needs barely anytime in the oven compared to the other 3 (about 30-60 mins depending on size)

caringcarer · 23/12/2024 17:01

I always do a gammon ham on Xmas Eve then a turkey crown and a beef for Xmas dinner do lots of cold cuts meat for Boxing day.

Kleptronic · 23/12/2024 17:39

Well there it is, beef wins and I’m adding yorkies to the cooking timeline. Also roast fucks, snigger 😆

The venison is bought and pre-cubed and wouldn’t go round 7 people anyway.

Glad to see there are others never knowingly undercatered in the roasts department!

With all due respect I think you should get off of Mumsnet and start gutting that hippo. I did one last year and it took me all bloody day.

one type of meat, plus a veggie/vegan alternative is enough! Turkey or beef.

Ham is a separate meal. Venison stew is a different separate meal.

Meats which need different gravies is a bad idea imo.

Turkey and ham is Christmas dinner in Ireland
