Click and collect shopping

Not sure what it;s called where you live but basically you book a spot and call a phone number, park in a bay and someone brings it out to you.
My DH is like his head is going to explode. They sent a text sayin all ready to collect ( ordered a week before). He gets there, no spaces in the click and collect bays but one nearby so he rings the number and says where he is. Twice in the 40 minutes he was waiting he rushed into the store and explained where he was and that he'd been waiting( once 20 minutes) then ( 40 minutes). He was told he was 11th in the queue.
Finally he walked in again said his name and saw it on a trolley. He thought it was very light on for xmas but just wanted to get home.
Turns out I paid ( calculating here - 174 pounds for 2 small bags of shopping.). He didn't know what I'd ordered and was over it so just drove home with it.
I saw the 2 miserable bags and said "oh dear something is wrong". Tried 5 times to call the store no answer.
Angry, I'm not angry, I'm furious. I have people ariving for an early xmas thing in 2 hours and I have 2 mangoes, some ritz, ( some cheese as I always have that), 2 bottles of lemonade and custard. Oh and lots of wine because they managed to get that right. I'm sure that will go down well.
I also have the worlds crankiest husband as what should have been a 20 minute job to collect the groceries has now taken over 2 hours and he's still not home.
I also don't want the prawns and smoked salmon that they put aside for my order this morning and then completely forgot about. It's 33 degrees here.

Sorry you've had a bad experience OP. My guess is that you might need to be in one of the specific bays instead of one nearby, even if that meant waiting around for a space. They may have had more picked for you on a different trolley but your DH didn't wait to find out. It does sound extremely disorganised though.
We did click and collect yesterday. It was set up so it was more of a 'drive through' type bay. Hit a button in the app when you get there and they bring everything out. I was expecting a huge queue yesterday but there were 4 cars in front of us and we were probably on our way home in 15 minutes, so it can work.
