Have you used Tesco online festive food to order?

When I booked my Tesco Christmas delivery slot, I just added a couple of things so I could come back to it later. When I did come back to it, the only medium turkey they had available was their expensive 'Finest' turkey for £50. I added that to my basket, intending to remove it if I was able to find a cheaper one in store nearer the time. We were able to buy a cheaper one in Sainsburys today, but when I tried to take the Finest turkey off tomorrow's Tesco order the app says I can't change the quantity because it is part of the festive food to order range! I don't remember seeing any terms & conditions about this restriction when I added the turkey, and there's nothing in the general T&C's. Can anyone remember whether festive food items had a tick box to accept extra conditions?

It says on the page for that item with the product info. If you ring customer services they will most likely remove it for you.

This screenshot shows the info I remember. No info about cancellation. Fingers crossed customer services will sort it out.

I have the opposite problem, I tried about a week ago to add a turkey crown and couldn’t get the one I wanted as it said it was part of the festive food to order range. Having a chicken now instead 😁

You had to cancel festive food by I think 14 December I had a post about this several years ago. Had to make many trips to the food bank as I had multiple platters, trifles, joints

RoundSquareWithTriangles · 22/12/2024 14:42

You have to confirm your festive food items by the 14th December. After that date you can not remove them yourself. However, I hope Customer Service will help you.

All the festive food orders are kept separately so you are guaranteed your turkey etc. It saves people moaning that their orders were out of stock. The pickers don't get them off the shop floor like they normally do.

The irony is, they probably do have the one you want in store.

I got a text message reminding me to confirm the festive food to order thing the night before the 14th.

doodleschnoodle · 22/12/2024 15:03

And yes the festive food to order is ordered separately so you're guaranteed it, so you had to check out earlier so they could order the right amount. We use it every year for the stuff we don't want to risk being out of stock (usually one of the desserts).

With Sainsbury's last year I had an extra turkey ordered (can't remember why so I just put it back on the shelf and didn't buy it. I had only paid £20 up front so got this off the rest of my order.

OldTinHat · 22/12/2024 15:37

I've placed an order with Sainsburys food to order. The deadline for amends and cancellations was 16th so quite normal I think OP.
