Is it worth doing the last of the food shop at 6am on Monday -will the shelves be well stocked?

I need to get potatoes and veg and a few other fresh bits/things I have forgotten. Seeing that Marks and Spencer opens at 5am tomorrow, I'm considering getting there around 6am in the hope that they will have all the shelves well stocked and it won't be crazy busy. Anyone else gone at this time a couple of days before Christmas? Was it worth it?

No idea about M&S but the large supermarkets have workers, some of whom start at 10pm and stock shelves all night so, as long as it’s been delivered, it will be on the shelves.

I've done a 6.30am M&S shop the last couple of years. It was great, shelves fully stocked and the store was really quiet.

I can also recommend it. Shelves will be stocked - supermarkets will ensure it. Supermarkets know many don’t sort it until Christmas Eve!

Great, that's my plan for tomorrow morning then, armed with my final list! There's a big Tesco close to M&S which I can pop to if there's anything I can't get, so hopefully that will be the last of the food shopping!

We’re doing our main shop early tomorrow morning. Combination of Asda, including 8p veg, and Tescos.

I’m going at 6am on Christmas Eve they do work through the night at M&S it’s easier for them to restock their shelves when there’s no customers around.

Some of my favourite memories was doing a 4/5am Christmas Eve shop with my dad to get the veg etc. Also ensured I was knackered and slept that night! We frequented Asda but it was always fully stocked at that time, I think everywhere will be.

I've gone on Christmas Eve morning to get milk and fresh bread and there was plenty 🙂

dementedpixie · 22/12/2024 11:29

We haven't bought any Christmas food so hope they still have some tomorrow!

Planning on getting salad and bread on Christmas Eve

WhimsicalGubbins76 · 22/12/2024 11:34

Plan on doing this myself tomorrow at sainsburys. Don’t have much left to get and I cannot stand the hoards of people in the shops Christmas week. Not looking forward to being up at the crack of dawn on my week off, but it’s definitely better than queuing to get in the car park if leave it until 9am

Spanglybangles · 22/12/2024 12:05

Yes, do it! I’d been considering the same myself, but out of curiosity checked Tesco app yesterday to see how long until delivery slots were available and miraculously saw a few for today! So I grabbed one quick smart and will have my delivery arriving this afternoon, everything in stock, no substitutions! Absolutely delighted!!
