According to TMZ Blake Lively is suing Justin Baldoni for sexual harassment on the set of ‘It Ends With Us’.

According to the lawsuit, a meeting was held in regards to the hostile work environment. Blake demanded that Baldoni stop showing nude videos or images of women to her, no more mention of Baldoni's alleged previous "pornography addiction," no more discussions about sexual conquests in front of Blake and others, no further mentions of cast and crew's genitalia, no more inquiries about Blake's weight, and no further mention of Blake's dead father and no more adding of sex scenes, oral sex or on camera climaxing by Blake outside of the script Blake approved when signing onto the project.

Baldoni’s representative have denied the allegations and state this is an effort for Blake to rehabilitate her recent poor image.

So why are you OK with her asking me a question, but you're not OK with me asking her a question?

Because her question was essentially, "do you routinely disbelieve women's lived experience?" and yours was, "are you good enough to comment?".

I think they are qualitatively different.

Back on the topic, I wonder if this has now become so obviously a tactic, that PR firms and abusive men in general, will need to come up with something else? Weinstein, Depp, Heigl when she spoke up about Grey's, now this clusterfuck. Will we learn that if a woman is suddenly 'difficult' that's just code for 'difficult...to abuse'.

Difficult is increasingly just an antidote to being a victim.

No I never wrote are you good enough to comment.

She kept asking me over and over about my experience volunteering in a rape crisis centre.

Eventually I then asked her - what was her own experience of volunteering.

@MrsTerryPratchett i think this will open a lot of people’s eyes to how we are manipulated. My teenage kids are quite 😱 because despite the fact they’re not daft, they do believe a lot of what they read/see online. So I think the daylight here is really good

Edited

I hope it will open some eyes. I must talk to DD about it. She's pretty off-line but still.

Yes I think the case will be good for people to see that a lot of what they read about celebrities online, comes from PR campaigns.

I was just reading about this and about the pr company hired to spread negative stories about BL. I remember awhile ago on MN posters were asking why there were all these negative stories in the press about her at the time. Absolutely shocking if it’s true, trying to ruin her reputation for speaking up about harrassmenf

The technique seems to have been to ruin her reputation before the story about the harassment came out so that when it came out out people would say 'oh I don't like her' and not pay proper attention to it.

It certainly seems to have worked in some cases.

And also I wonder if there will be a discussion about the algorithm too. It’s going to be really interesting to see how this unfolds.

Moonfasa100 · 23/12/2024 22:05

I don't think her reputation was totally ruined last year though.

I remember people saying that she was a bit rude in one interview.

Then other people said at the time, that "she's allowed to be rude and tired. Lots of male celebrities are"

That's all that was said.

NewZealandintherain · 23/12/2024 22:06

I wonder if there will be a revisit of attitudes re. Depp/Heard.

Yes, it doesn't seem to cost much to have your smear campaign appear on the timeline of a middle-aged woman in a completely different country who had zero interest in that sort of thing, in large enough quantities to register.

Amber heard, from what little I can see of her, seems to have recovered from it and had moved on.

There was a video of her out and about recently. She looks very happy

NewZealandintherain · 23/12/2024 22:08

@Moonfasa100 I think her reputation was pretty shredded. I had no opinion of her before but I like RR (I follow the Wrexham story) and remember thinking she sounded a pain. But didn’t really think further on it. So it definitely entered my brain!

ReachersAbs · 23/12/2024 22:09

I haven’t read the whole discussion but I think I understand what @Moonfasa100 is saying. I think they are saying that they support the reportee with whatever they are saying, taking what they say at face value. It’s not their role to decide on guilt or not so this doesn’t come into the equation at all.

I don’t think they are saying that they disbelieve the people who come to them for support unless evidence is provided.

myrtleWilson · 23/12/2024 22:09

are you in the UK @Feb135 because I don’t recall it being promoted as a romcom here. Odeon for example have this listing which yes tags it as romance/drama but I imagine that is due to limited tags. But the description is clear it isn’t a romcom and domestic abuse/violence is clearly stated

Moonfasa100 · 23/12/2024 22:09

Blake lively was just called rude in one interview last year.

I don't think calling anyone rude ruins their reputation.

Haven't we all been rude once or twice.

Pretty scary. Orwellian.

Some more than others 🥳😂

Moonfasa100 · 23/12/2024 22:11

You know the interview where Blake lively was called rude last year.

The interviewer has talked about it recently, she said that she wasn't contacted to do anything as part of any smear campaign

I'm talking about celebs though.

Being called rude has never cancelled anyone's career

Moonfasa100 · 23/12/2024 22:14

Anne Hathaway was also called rude last year, to an interviewer.

Moonfasa100 · 23/12/2024 22:18

Whoever has the most money can do a bigger smear campaign

NewZealandintherain · 23/12/2024 22:20

I think BL is backed up by fact though- texts/the contract. So not smear but an exposé. JB is just heresay.

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/12/2024 21:46

Noblegiraffe hasn't responded to my question. I'm still waiting to hear. Have you done anything to help anyone?

As I said I don't think women have to prove their worth to you in order to comment.

Don't worry, I don't feel the need to prove my worth to anyone on here.

I judge people on here by the quality of what they write, not what they claim to have done. Given, as we can see, it is quite easy to claim things, and yet not be able to evidence those claims or articulate an argument for them, this is probably the best approach.

(Incidentally, I rate you highly as a poster...)

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/12/2024 22:23

Men (Tom Cruise and Christian Bale to name a couple) can have expletive-laden meltdowns on set where they berate crew members and not a blip in their career. Name a woman 'difficult' and it can tank hers. And since women have a much shorter career in Hollywood, a small time in the wilderness can be a whole career.

It isn't the same in PR terms at all.

You also strangely think it's OK to ask other posters multiple questions, yet you never answer a question yourself...

You also insult other posters constantly? yet when you are ever asked a question about your own background, you ignore it.

You ignored the question when I asked what you had done to help others.

Because you couldn't answer the question.
