According to TMZ Blake Lively is suing Justin Baldoni for sexual harassment on the set of ‘It Ends With Us’.

According to the lawsuit, a meeting was held in regards to the hostile work environment. Blake demanded that Baldoni stop showing nude videos or images of women to her, no more mention of Baldoni's alleged previous "pornography addiction," no more discussions about sexual conquests in front of Blake and others, no further mentions of cast and crew's genitalia, no more inquiries about Blake's weight, and no further mention of Blake's dead father and no more adding of sex scenes, oral sex or on camera climaxing by Blake outside of the script Blake approved when signing onto the project.

Baldoni’s representative have denied the allegations and state this is an effort for Blake to rehabilitate her recent poor image.

Weirdest thread ever. What on earth?

DepartingRadish · 23/12/2024 21:16

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/12/2024 21:13

That is often the point. Exhaust feminists with whataboutery and side quests so they don't do the other work.

Failing to understand that women are used to doing all the work and will continue to both play whack-a-mole with people on here, and do the work IRL.

Agree.

This thread has gone really weird. Which is a shame because the main discussion was quite interesting.

I also would like to get back to talking about Blake Lively and Justin again.

Have there been any new updates?

noblegiraffe · 23/12/2024 21:18

Moonfasa100 · 23/12/2024 21:07

You've also avoided my question

I'll ask you again.

Are you volunteering with any charity that helps sexual abuse victims.

If you want to help sex abuse victims, what are you doing to help?

I asked you first, so you can answer first.

With the rape conviction rate as low as it is, how can you possibly think that the justice system is fair to rape victims?

NewZealandintherain · 23/12/2024 21:20

Getting back on track. Amber Heard speaks out…

The cast of a show that Blake Lively was in when she was younger have also posted in support of her, as has her brother.

And again I'll ask you - as you think that the system is so unfair,

what are you personally doing to help, to make the system better?

Well her brother was hardly not going to support her, was he.

It's nice that the cast have supported her though.

noblegiraffe · 23/12/2024 21:25

Everyone else I know who has worked in that area has very strong opinions about how the justice system treats rape victims and the extremely low conviction rates.

Moonfasa100 · 23/12/2024 21:05

I bwt the posters who are picking at me, have never gotten off their arsed and volunteered for a rape crisis centre. Or volunteered for anyhring similar.

Have you? Why don't you.

If you want to help people. Do it.

I volunteered at Great Ormond St Hospital one evening a week for 5 years, only stopping when I moved out of London and had children of my own. I was also a chaperone at a sexual health clinic which was well known for having pro-life protesters harassing staff and women outside the grounds.

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/12/2024 21:33

@noblegiraffe adn @AngeloMysterioso please don't feel you have to prove your credentials to anyone. It's just a tiresome tactic to make people prove they are good enough to have an opinion.

Being a woman on the face of the earth is good enough to have an opinion on this.

PorpoiseWithPurpose · 23/12/2024 21:35

Crack open some more mince pies and take another long break @Moonfasa100.

It’s all getting a little embarrassing for you now.

I see you glossed over the point that they were attacking me and I responded to that.

I said to them, instead of picking at me , and having a go at me, have you actually done anything to help rape victims yourself?

Noblegiraffe hasn't responded to my question. I'm still waiting to hear. Have you done anything to help anyone?

Instead of attacking women on here noblegiraffe, why don't you go out and do some good somewhere.

Embarrassing to who? I'm not in the slightest bit embarrassed. If you are, that's on you.

Embarrassing FOR YOU.

As I said I don't think women have to prove their worth to you in order to comment.

I was just reading about this and about the pr company hired to spread negative stories about BL. I remember awhile ago on MN posters were asking why there were all these negative stories in the press about her at the time. Absolutely shocking if it’s true, trying to ruin her reputation for speaking up about harrassmenf

It's not proving her worth.

It's asking her a question

If you read back, she has also asked me many questions.

So why are you OK with her asking me a question, but you're not OK with me asking her a question?

Moonfasa100 · 23/12/2024 21:51

NewZealandintherain · 23/12/2024 21:47

I agree. Let's not feed you.

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/12/2024 21:55

So why are you OK with her asking me a question, but you're not OK with me asking her a question?

Because her question was essentially, "do you routinely disbelieve women's lived experience?" and yours was, "are you good enough to comment?".

I think they are qualitatively different.

Back on the topic, I wonder if this has now become so obviously a tactic, that PR firms and abusive men in general, will need to come up with something else? Weinstein, Depp, Heigl when she spoke up about Grey's, now this clusterfuck. Will we learn that if a woman is suddenly 'difficult' that's just code for 'difficult...to abuse'.

Difficult is increasingly just an antidote to being a victim.

Feb135 · 23/12/2024 21:57

The poster who took their kids to see it ends with us - it was a 15. Are they over 15? Blake Lively promoted the film exactly as she was asked to by the studio. If you're such a negligent parent that you can't even google the extremely famous book it's based on, or indeed the legal rating, you are 100% to blame. But then it didn't actually happen did it?

Er my children are 18 and 20 but thanks for checking. No I hadn't heard of the book so I hadn't googled it (it's rather a prerequisite to know there's a book to google it). We wanted to watch something that afternoon so had a quick look at a trailer, read some reviews and booked it. Not every cinema booking has detailed research.

My sons are old enough to understand the subject matter but the point is that it's not a romcom that you grab your girlfriends and put on your floral dresses to watch. No one should have been marketing it as that and absolutely not trying to flog merchandise off the back of it. There's enough fluffy romcoms produced if BL wanted to do that.

And as we've all said, you don't have to like someone to support them for calling out inappropriate behaviour in the workplace which she has a right to do.

NewZealandintherain · 23/12/2024 21:57

@MrsTerryPratchett i think this will open a lot of people’s eyes to how we are manipulated. My teenage kids are quite 😱 because despite the fact they’re not daft, they do believe a lot of what they read/see online. So I think the daylight here is really good
