Costco Opticians, any good?

I need to book an eye test and was wondering what Costco opticians were like & how much are their eye tests? I don’t want to go to Specsavers (use to go there) not really bothered about Asda or Boots. I wear varifocals so it’s never cheap! I could try an independent optician but then it gets really expensive doesn’t it? TIA

I use Costco opticians, I find them really good and thorough. I’m in Scotland so free eye tests bit their glasses prices are reasonable for a physical opticians (as opposed to buying online). I’ve always been happy with them.

I find them really good, their eye tests are much more thorough than other opticians I've used, and less expensive.

Thank you for the replies, I’ve booked an eye test with them, I’ll most likely be needing new glasses. I hate choosing frames, I never know what to go for, I usually end up choosing the cheapest to be honest.

Never used them but Asda are cheap and crap. You do generally get what you pay for and cheap is cheap for a reason.

Like most things at Costco, they aren't necessarily cheaper, but they are better. I thought the test part was better and then the frames and lenses are good quality. There's none of this extra for coating carry on.

Just an update. I had my eye test at Costco & thought they were very good, really explained everything to me, also said my prescription hadn’t changed a great deal, not so much that I need to get new glasses. I didn’t take my current prescription with me, they read it from my glasses. They gave me a print out of my new prescription.

it wasn’t until I got home & compared my new Costco prescription with my old latest one from Specsavers that the numbers were very different yet the optician said there was hardly any change at all.

Basically my right eye on my old one says -4.25 & on new one it’s -2.5 & the cylinder on old one says +1.75 & on new it’s -1.50 so it’s a minus on new not a plus? The axis are very different numbers also.

I’ve tried ringing them but can’t get through yet. Has anyone had this kind of prescription before?
