So angry with myself

Arrived back at a London airport yesterday morning after a long flight and a stressful couple of weeks and only left my carryon suitcase at baggage collection.
I'd put it to the side of my trolley while lugging my stupidly heavy cases of the belt and onto the trolley and then just walked off without it. Only realised once I'd walked through customs etc.
I've logged it with lost property at the airport and the airline but guessing someone has decided its filled with lots of lovely Xmas presents and decided to hang on to it.
Am so so annoyed with myself.
Don't suppose anyone's done anything similar and had a happy ending?

Not the same but I lost my duty free bag in the airport. I had my 2 very young children with me. £180 - gone! I’m still annoyed about it. I didnt get mine back but I hope you get yours back! Airports are so stressful it’s easily done.

I left my phone in the toilet at an airport after a long flight -- was so exhausted I wasn't thinking straight. Got it back after reporting to lost property.
Good luck!

I think most people don't want somebody else's stuff, so I think it's most likely the case will have been handed in. You'll probably get a call today to say your case can be collected. Fingers crossed for you!

Ah that sucks op, sorry about that.
My first go to thought would be that someone would have taken it, but in reality I would say it's far more likely that it would have been taken to lost property. Hoping you get it back!

Do you have something in the bag to identify it as yours op? As it’s carry on it won’t have a tag.

I left my rucksack on the back of a toilet door at City airport earlier this year. I realised once I’d gone through security and just before we were about to get on the train home. The airport staff were extremely helpful and went to find it as I couldn’t go back through. They then needed to swab it and put it through the xray machine before returning it but I had it back in about 20 minutes. The staff were very relaxed so I think these things probably happen all the time. I am sure it will turn up, most people wouldn’t pick up a random suitcase. It might just take some time if it’s a big airport. Don’t give up hope yet!!

So nice to hear there may a slight chance I'll see it again. I'm going to try not to think about it and who knows... pls keep fingers crossed

More likely someone reported it as an unaccompanied bag and airport staff have it. I do think anyone would take a random bag on purpose. Hope you get it back!

I would think most people would be very wary of an unattended bag in the airport and wouldn’t want to walk it through customs. I hope it’s been handed in for you.
