Can anyone help with thyroid issue?

Hi all,

I’m hoping that someone out there may be able to give some advice with an issue my husband is having. GP is refusing to take him seriously unfortunately.

He (42yo white male) was diagnosed with Graves’ disease a couple of years ago and went through a course of carbimazole to get it all back in the right limits. He has been off medication for over a year with normal blood test but the last few weeks have been tough.

It feels like he’s back to where he was before he was initially diagnosed. He’s experiencing problems with mood, appetite, has lost over half a stone in about 6 weeks, itchy eyes, the shakes. It’s all exactly how he was when he was first diagnosed. He’s had two sets of blood tests in the last two weeks but they’re in the “normal” range (there was a spike in free T4 although still in “normal” range). Has anyone else experienced this? Or has medical knowledge and can advise?

It feels like his thyroid isn’t working properly but he won’t get anywhere with the specialists as his tests are “normal.”

Any advice would be appreciated. He’s really struggling, especially with the mood issues. I just feel helpless as I can’t help him!

Thanks all.

What are his levels? What is his current medication?

@Namechangeobviously2024 Vitamin D

@Paradisegained No current medication.

TSH is 0.74
FT4 is 17.8 (did spike to 19.4)
FT3 is 5.7

Full bloods have been done, only thing that stood out to us was MCV right at the bottom of the range at 80.3.
