Yodel put my parcel in the bin :-(

I bought an unusual item on Vinted that I've been looking for for a while - not huge value, £40, but something I've really wanted. It's been a really busy couple of days so I haven't checked notifications, but when I did so earlier today, I saw Yodel had delivered yesterday . . . and left it in our grey bin, as we were out.

THE BINS WERE EMPTIED EARLY THIS MORNING Angry

If I had only realised a couple of hours earlier, I would have been able to fish it out. I'm so sad. I know I can probably get my money back - although that will be an admin battle I really don't have the time or mental reserves for at the moment - but I'm frustrated at the idiocy of leaving an item in a bin when there is a perfectly accessible, dry, secure shed right beside it. It's as easy to open the shed door as it is a bin lid.

Damn you, Yodel!

I totally agree that the bin is an utterly ridiculous place to leave a parcel. I had Hermes (now Evri) do this to me some years ago, though fortunately not on bin collection day.

Had you left any instructions about where to leave the parcel if you were out? It's often possible, and a useful thing to do.

We've had numerous parcels left in our wheelie bin and sometimes we haven't even had a notification/card through the door to inform us. It's lucky that we have security cameras so can see where/when we've had a delivery.

Sounds as good as mine-they chucked two parcels over the fence into my back garden-straight into my pond… wankers, I have a perfectly good porch that’s open

RedPandaFluff · 21/12/2024 10:56

@Topseyt123 I don't think it's possible to leave instructions when it's a Vinted transaction, but I'll double-check next time.

No card through the letterbox, @BigMuch - if they had let us know, I'd have been able to get it out of the bin when we got home.

Into the pond! Ugggghhhh @MrsElijahMikaelson1 - that's so annoying!

It's incredibly frustrating! I've lost parcels this way.

Also had £75 orth of amazon parcels nicked this week as my front door is directly on the public pavement, no front garden at all, and amazon constantly just leaves parcels on the doorstep 😐

CharlotteStreetW1 · 21/12/2024 11:07

Amazon left a parcel in my (fortunately clean and empty) food bin yesterday which at least kept it out of the rain. Thank goodness for the photo!

RedPandaFluff · 21/12/2024 11:11

Yes, Amazon drivers just dump stuff on our front step too, @Rosbeet - luckily we're set back from the road but it would be easy enough for someone to duck in and grab something. I've specifically required them not to do this in my Amazon account but they do it anyway.

Just as well it was clean and empty, @CharlotteStreetW1 !

Most couriers here leave parcels slap bang in the middle of my front step. I live in a main road with a bus stop directly outside. They don't use any common sense, just to shave a few seconds off a delivery.
