QR code? Anyone work in retail?

I purchased a North Face puffer jacket on Vinted. I've just been doing some authenticity checks, and comparing it against my daughter's genuine jacket (bought from TNF shop). It's looking good in all aspects and is identical to my daughter's: the stitching, the zips, holographic label ... the lot.
The only thing is that the QR code will not scan. My camera picks it up straightaway on my daughter's. My purchase is probably a couple of years older than my daughter's though. I'm not very technically minded. Is there such a thing as an older style QR code? Or maybe this is something else entirely? I'll post a pic. As I said though, the jacket is amazing quality and identical in all other areas to the real deal.
Would appreciate your insight and reassurance, hopefully!
Thanks.

Does the product code work on the north face website? (I assume that’s what the number above the QR code represents)

Does it really matter? You've bought a jacket you like. Why scour it for authenticity? It's just a jacket.

Because you pay for the name and the quality that comes with it.

Nope, as I said, it won't scan.

I assume the PP meant if you were to input the product number manually.

Either way, this is North Face not Moncler. Either accept the slight risk of it not being genuine and save the money, or just buy a new one.

Then dont buy off vinted! A bargain doesn’t mean its real.

SchoolDilemma17 · 20/12/2024 07:35

If it doesn’t scan it’s fake. Lots of good fakes from Turkey etc have QR codes. You can return on vinted but have to pay postage.

I just tried to enter the product code on their site and it says to enter a valid code. Not sure if there are any other codes in the jacket, but it didn't like that one.

Many thanks for trying.

Ok, I've done a bit more research and it looks like it could be an internal scanner code, so won't scan like a QR.
Hope yet!
Thanks to those who replied in a kind and helpful way.

Seems fake to me

Dbank · 20/12/2024 09:11

the image doesn't appear to be a "normal" QR code as it's missing the usual components, but as you say it may be an internal code that doesn't adhere to the standard.
