The sub total was 95.40... I think that's awful
Club card put it down to 71.95

In my case I have 60.00 in a gift card so personally I only paid 11.00 so I was lucky with that.

I don't know why I'm shocked. Probably because I would shop differently for a standard shop.

I'm doing an aldi shop tomorrow. Will be interesting to see what I can get there.

The turkey must have been expensive then, because I shop in Tesco all the time and I made it roughly £49 in my head for everything except the turkey, based on prices for stuff that’s in my basket for delivery.

menohnopausal · 18/12/2024 10:14

I don't eat meat, so I'm out of touch, but is it really only £6 for a turkey?! That can't be right?

WhoopsNow · 18/12/2024 10:15

£110

Scarfitwere · 18/12/2024 10:15

My guess was pretty accurate then! (I was assuming club card)

I always shop in Aldi but I’ve definitely noticed their prices have gone up too.

TiramisuCheesecake · 18/12/2024 10:16

You could probably make a dessert cheaper than buying 4 separate boxes from the supermarket. Those sorts of things are never cheap and the shop bought ones are not good.

Dammit! £3.39 off 🙈

£20 for the sweets
£7 each for cheesecake
£25 for turkey
£20 for other bits

£80 ish

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 18/12/2024 10:18

I was quite a way off then at £45! I'm obviously out of touch with how much things cost. I'd reckoned on about £15 for the turkey crown, £4 each for the tubs of chocolates and about £1 a piece for everything else.

Sunnyside4 · 18/12/2024 10:18

I'm in Tescos cafe right now. I noticed their chocolate tubs are on offer, but from memory works out a third more than last year. We just biy a small turkey breast and that's about a third more.

We have a fairly simple Xmas foodwise compared to others, so not worth trying to shop around. Tescos and Lidl are within a one minute walk from work, so I rarely use car. Any other supermarket would be a five mile drive across town taking 20 mins.

If you mean the poster who said they were £6 each in Asda, they were talking about the tubs of chocolates

Not a hope in hell of me making a dessert 🤣

£70 disclaimer I'm a pro at this as have won three guess the value of the trolley competitions 🏆

Barney16 · 18/12/2024 10:21

I was going to say £100. It's a mystery to me how we can all actually eat in this country. Food is ridiculously expensive. And doesn't seem to be getting any cheaper.

WispasAreNicerThanFlakes · 18/12/2024 10:22

ILoveAnnaQuay · 18/12/2024 10:22

RabbitsEatPancakes · 18/12/2024 10:23

£95

Seems quite cheap for a lot of junk, I'd rather rhave spent it on one piece of quality meat.

5 massive tubs of sweets
2 packS of after eights
2 bags of frozen spuds
40 pigs
4 cheesecakes
3 bags of chocolate coins
1 turkey crown of unknown weight

It's a lot of food.

Gall10 · 18/12/2024 10:23

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 18/12/2024 10:25

ooh I have now seen you have put the cost. I was very close :)

I work in ASDA on checkouts, so mentally calculated it rounding it up as I went.
Tesco used to be dearer than ASDA.

boysmuminherts · 18/12/2024 10:25

around £50?
