Not sure what bills and pasture are. What kind of food do you like? Budget? There are so many fab restaurants. Where are you staying?

MessyNeate · 18/12/2024 08:18

Leonardo hotel.

We like all kinds of food really. DH wills usually have steak! He's already up there (away for work) but in port. I should arrived by 2pm ish so will be looking for somewhere nice to eat the first night (Friday night) before a few drinks in the city.

Then Saturday, breakfast/lunch and then somewhere else to eat in the evening.

I haven't seen him for 10 weeks. I'm very excited!

Lots of chains around St Andrews Square including the Ivy. Amarone or Vittoria on the Bridge for Italian, the Dome for drinks or Contini on George Street, Le Bistrot at the French institute on Royal Mile

There's bloody tons of them. Anyway, there's The Ivy on the square, Chez Joules (brilliant for steak), Mark Greenaway, Kanpai (if you like sushi), The White Horse on the Mile for seafood. If you venture out of the city centre, go to Parrilla Argentinian Grill in Musselburgh. It's brilliant, as is East Coast. Osteria in North Berwick.

Dine is a lovely restaurant, next to the Usher Hall. Or The Kitchin is great.

For steak, Fazendas or the Rio steakhouse are marvelous.

Edit: I wouldn't bother with The Ivy, though.

The Witchery!

Lots of lovely recommendations on this but I'd advise that you book. Edinburgh heaving right now. Try open table for ideas.
Hawkmoor or LaFazenda for chain type meat places.
Dine Edinburgh always good as well.

Kora by Tom Kitchin

The Palmerston

The Scottish Cafe & Restaurant In the Scottish National Gallery for an excellent view of garden and castle. I go there for brunch and lunch

They’re all solid restaurants with excellent service.

Minami sushi, minami-sushi.co.uk Best in Edinburgh, Behind Apple Store quite busy usually. Booking recommend as mine 1 visit was rejected as was no space. So be carefully before visiting.

Vittoria on the Bridge, Amarone in st Andrews Square

FFSToEverythingSince2020 · 17/12/2025 11:50

As @januaryknowsbest said, lots of lovely options for reservations on OpenTable and you can read more reviews (with photos!) than you’ll get on MN. Here’s a link to Edinburgh’s OpenTable:

Another vote for Vittoria on the Bridge, if you fancy Italian.
