It came free with a magazine (maybe More or Cosmo) in the early to mid-1990s. A novel about an Irish girl who meets and falls in love with a boy from Northern Ireland, and his older brother is involved with the IRA. Eventually she finds out she’s pregnant and reports the brother to the police, then has to go into witness protection and never sees the boyfriend again. In the epilogue she’s living in the rural USA with her little boy. Main characters were called Kitty and Danny I think. Does it sound familiar to anyone else? I’m usually quite good at remembering book titles but this one’s been eluding me.

OMG YES!! Thank you! I recognised the cover immediately. This will be the shortest mystery book thread ever 😂

Bloody hell OP, opened this thread wondering what book from my youth it might be and IMMEDIATELY this is the one that popped into my head. Would never have remembered the name of it. Obviously left a deep impression on hormonal teenage girls 😂😂

I knew it had quite a generic, one word title which I never would have remembered.

It’s funny because I don’t remember thinking it was a great book, but it’s obviously really stayed with me if I’m still thinking about it 27 years later. 😂

The other magazine freebie which haunted me was “Go Ask Alice”, mainly because I thought it was real.
