Vinted - am I being scammed

Sold a high'ish value item on vinted used the Evri paid for postage. At 14:00 got an email saying she'd received order from vinted. 15:00 she raises a case saying order not received. Obvs someone else could have signed for it or gone to wrong address - doubtful tho isn't it.

Or will claim she's received the wrong thing. Ask for photos of item and packaging showing label. Did you take photos before sending? If it's an Evri screw up you'll both be refunded eventually.

She might have pressed order received by accident, I've done it before, where the button is is quite easy to do. And then raised to case to let Vinted know it actually hasn't been received yet. Do you know the parcels been delivered through the tracking?

LateMumma · 18/12/2024 05:33

I've had to raise cases with Evri before when they've said they've delivered something that hasn't been. It was also around Christmas, and something to do with marking things delivered as they had too much on. They actually delivered it the next day.

I did this on a vinted delivery once - I had email saying it had been delivered to me and it hadn't so I raised a case thinking it had gone awol. It came the next day - turns out the delivery companies sometimes mark things delivered when they're still in the van! This was Royal Mail too, not evri.

Im quite new on Vinted - sold a few things this month. One was a designer bag that was at least 10 years old on for £10. The photos showed the wear and tear, which was minimal. It was bought almost as soon as I posted it on the site, then the buyer messaged me to say she wasn’t happy that it wasn’t as described and sent me more photos she’d taken of the ‘damage’ which was on the photos I’d actually posted. I replied saying I thought it was priced fairly and if she wanted to return it I’d be more than happy to accept the return. Surprisingly she said she’d think about it, then actually bought it. I think she was after a reduction. Its back on Vinted at more than double the price she paid 😂

You'll both be refunded if it's an issue with the delivery company, so don't panic yet...

I had a "successful" delivery notification when I hadn't received the parcel a few weeks ago... turned out that it had been delivered to a neighbour by accident. I almost pressed the "I have an issue" button immediately because there's only a short timeline to report issues and I didn't want to lose my money, but decided to leave it a few hours and knock on neighbours doors just in case. I can see why someone might not take my approach (I almost didn't)!

So she might be being genuine as I needed her po to access full tracking. It shows the delivery persons hand at her door in front of letterbox. I asked if it was her door and she didn't say yes she just said 'but the door is closed' It is letterbox size tho so I'm wondering if that's them about to push it through.

It also as shows the GPS details. I know it's the right address as I screen took pic of label and have looked on Google Street view.

Should I send all this to vinted? There doesnt look to be anyway to contact them about this case?? Or will they have access to everything i.e. full tracking.

If she is being genuine I can only assume it was a rando Christmas temp delivery driver and they just left on doorstep.

However she is saying she has no longer has access to any tracking details to raise with Evri herself. she should have received the Evri 'your parcel has been delivered email to her email mailbox as well as on vinted which has all the access to the tracking but she is saying she hasn't!!

I had a feeling she was dodge tho as she kept sending me offers and I said I wasn't in rush and the price I had given was as low as prepared to go. Then she asked to reserve until she had enough money which I just ignored. Should have trusted my gut.

This happens all the time with Evri to me. Sometimes it’s literally an hour later, sometimes the next day.

Crunchyqueen · 18/12/2024 09:53

@Moglet4 not sure this is what's happened here as the tracking shows a pic of them stood on the doorstep at the front door with the the door and letterbox clearly visible .

Unfortunately it sounds in your case like she might be a scammer. It happens quite often with high ticket items.

Mostlyoblivious · 18/12/2024 09:58

I’d suggest to the buyer you’ll be referring this to the police as it’s theft (leave it implied as Evri but not explicit) and see her squirm

stopringingme · 18/12/2024 10:00

@Crunchyqueen

It will be up to her to prove it was not delivered.

They have photos of the delivery taking place.

I don't sell, but if I need to return something, I always take a photo of the label so I have the recipients address.

She will still be able to see the tracking if she clicks on tracking information.

The contract for delivery is between evri and vinted, so she needs to go through vinted.
