Yes

Batmanisaplaceinturkey · 16/12/2024 16:47

Yes. To speed up your metabolism of anything.

Thisisthedawningoftheageofaquarius · 16/12/2024 16:48

You’ll feel much better tomorrow if you do; and at least it’ll draw a line under it (and you won’t eat for the whole night!)

Cerialkiller · 16/12/2024 16:48

Yes even more really. Exercising will burn off some energy before it turns into fat. It will also keep you busy and stop you eating more.

ElangaScores · 16/12/2024 16:49

Of course. No one ever regrets going to the gym.

TheSilkWorm · 16/12/2024 16:49

Why wouldn't there be? What are you expecting the gym to achieve?

muppetbabies · 16/12/2024 16:51

@TheSilkWorm just seems counteractive after eating crap today

Yes, you’ll wake up feeling much better tomorrow.

Userengage · 16/12/2024 16:52

Of course you should.

Pettifoggery83 · 16/12/2024 16:52

Exercise is more than just weight loss.....so yes go!

Meadowfinch · 16/12/2024 16:53

Even more reason to go. Don't let it convert in to fat, and take root.

I was at the works Christmas party on Friday and didn't stint on pudding and cream but ran 10k on Saturday morning. It seems to work, I'm 61 and still a size 10.

Verite1 · 16/12/2024 16:54

You will probably find you have a lot of energy to burn off. Perfect time to go. I often try and go for a long run for example the day after I have eaten too much!

Gertrudesinthegutter · 16/12/2024 16:54

I went to the gym this morning and then ate crap all day - 🤷‍♀️

TiramisuThief · 16/12/2024 16:54

Yeah deffo.

You'll feel better for having gone, it means you won't be eating more snacks while you're there & you can finish the day positively.

LisaJohnsonsFacebookMole · 16/12/2024 16:54

Obviously, yes. It affects mood, sleep, cardiovascular health, bone health. The gym isn't for 'cancelling out' food choices or being cancelled out or whatever. It's way more than that.

?? 🤔 how

BigDahliaFan · 16/12/2024 16:56

I went first thing this morning even though I've had a ridiculous weekend food and drink wise. It's not going to cancel it out - but I'm getting stronger and maintaining the habit.

ManxDi · 16/12/2024 16:56

It sounds like you're not motivated today?
I have learned that I can workout even when I'm not motivated.

I am old, fat and endlessly tired - but I turn up and go through the motions, whether that be my weight sessions or my running. I am there, every session.

Pilates on the other hand... even un motivated I find it hard to turn up to that.

AmethystRuby · 16/12/2024 16:59

yes. i ate like crap earlier and if i didnt have young kids pulling me in all directions i would love to hit the gym. do it, you'll feel great afterwards

Well that’s what you need isn’t it? 🤪

Avastmehearties · 16/12/2024 17:07

Go for it, you'll feel great!! It's not all about weight and calories either. There's mental health, bone density, maintaining good habits, sleep hygiene. I'm trying to build up exercise again after cancer treatment and even when it's not easy, little bits here and there help me feel better.

autumngirl714 · 16/12/2024 17:08

Sometimes it's ok to not go to the gym. If you've eaten like crap because you're unwell or stressed or burnt out, then having a quiet night is absolutely fine.

I do agree with a PP though, you never regret a workout! And it'll probably help you feel better going to bed/waking up in the morning!
