Is this chickenpox? Pic attached

My 4 year old son has lots of pimples on his belly. There are some on his back as well.

Does this look like chickenpox to you?

Can I send him to school like this tomorrow?

He's otherwise well in himself.

It does look thoroughly reminiscent of early stage chickenpox to me. I agree that in the morning if it's chickenpox they will probably have started to form blisters and that's definitive.

Check his scalp under his hair - if there are spots there it's also almost certainly chickenpox.

I commented already, but forgot to say - if it is chicken pox, he's at the most infectious stage which is just before the spots come out, so I really wouldn't send him to school tomorrow.

Yes, it is definitely chicken pox. A few blisters are developing now, see attached pic.

The majority of the pimples aren't blisters yet though.

So it can take a bit longer for blisters to develop, in case someone stumbles upon this thread in the future.

We'll keep him off school the whole week.

I fully expect a knock on our door from the school on Wednesday:D
