Anyone know anything about wine?

I don’t drink often but I was given this wine for my birthday by my MIL.

Can you tell by the label how old a bottle of wine is ? I know the label says 2012 and the bottles looking shoddy so I’m guessing it’s been in the back of her cupboard.

but maybe I’m wrong!

It's a decent bottle. I would drink it with fish.

Sancerre is a lovely wine but i can’t imagine aging a rose wine is the done thing. If it was a red maybe.

Rose Sancerre should be drunk ideally within a few years of bottling.
You could try it but I don't think it'll be very nice! Certainly not getting better the longer you leave it...
Shame, would have been delicious!

2012 was when it was bottled. It's a bit older than the current fashionable age to drink it but it will still be drinkable. I'd drink it alongside a younger version of the same wine to see the difference because it's always interesting to see a wine age. Looks like Sainsbury stocks the white so might stock the rose in the summer.
