Charity Shops Having Most Items for Display Only.

Does anyone know why some charity shops keep a ton of their nicest donations, on the top shelves, which are NOT available for customers to buy? .. I understand not selling window displays and interior display items they use to enhance the store, like mirrors, vases, flowers etc, but my local Haven House ALSO has top shelves all the way round, with at least 60 items not for sale - in fact most of the items in the shop are not for sale, nor on auction sites.. always a lot of puzzled & frustrated customers asking the same thing but being told "they're display only?" 🤔

This is the second thread about charity shop display items
what is the issue? The shop needs to look nice and presentable
So you need the items for decoration;

its possible they’re not donated and actually sourced for the shop

And are you really suggesting that “most” of the items in the shop aren’t for sale?!

I'm sure I read this the other day. Our local charity shops have more expensive stuff locked away but definitely for sale.

There was a similar thread specifically about wanting to buy the baubles that were decorating the tree in the window.
