Please can you recommend a gift of about £5-7 I can take for the host for brunch and a food/drink item I can bring to share with a group of 6-8 adults? TIA

Flowers for the host

For the dish:

Sweet or savoury muffins
Some bought freshly pressed juices
Fresh fruit salad
Overnight oats in individual portions

I had a lunch guest bring me flowers, which was a lovely thought but then meant that I had to deal with them instead of being able to chat to her. As a host/ess gift, why not something brunch-related but which they don't have to serve unless they want to? A really nice pot of home-based jam or conserve? Some prosecco? Some really good eggs? I'm told Burford Brown eggs are particularly good. A loaf of the absolute best version of whatever bread type item you know they prefer? Some of the expensive coffee/tea they don't usually buy for themselves? Make sure they know it's for them NOT for their guests.

NOT overnight oats! Some people may like them... A lot of people wont (including me).
I suggest fresh pastries rather than muffins.
I suggest fresh fruit (grapes? Berries?) rather than fruit salad. Not everyone likes everything that is in a fruit salad, and it doesn't keep in the same way as whole fruit.

Most of this is based on my own likes and dislikes, but I am autistic and a super-taster and have strong food dislikes, therefore when I host I am always very aware that others may not have the same tastes as me and try to offer options that will suit most tastes. My idea of hell would be for somebody to offer me a chilli flavoured egg dish with a rocket salad and overnight oats and blueberries for breakfast. With strong cafetiere coffee and sourdough pancakes.
