birthday tea dd 13

dd is having a birthday tea after school with 6 girls from school on Thursday. I have been so busy at work and ignored this up until now.

What foods would your dc love to eat at a birthday tea? It's after school, quite low key, they may do some gaming, chatting and just hanging out.

But I want to get the food right. They'll be some shop bought pizza but what else?

Please recommend sweet and savoury dishes, help!

If I'm being completely honest I would outsource this and order them takeaway pizza.

Pizza, garlic bread. Crisps and dips.
Cheesecake, ice cream, cream, profiteroles.
Seem to be sort of things dgc like.

Store bought pizzas are great. I’d go for just cheese, because toppings can be contentious.

Then classic party food: bowls of crisps, wotsits, party rings, then some healthy stuff too because I think teen/preteen girls can be a bit food conscious, so grapes, strawberries, etc.

Is there anything your dd really loves? If she absolutely loves Jaffa cakes, swap those for the party rings.

In addition to pizza:
Garlic Bread
Olives
Green Salad
Crudités with dip.
Nachos

A make your own ice cream bar
(A few flavours, sprinkles, sauce, cream etc)
Brownies cut up into small chunks
Fruit.

Garlic baguettes and wedges to go with the pizza

Fruit salad if you want something healthy

Make one of these style mixes with DD favourites:

All of the above plus cucumber!

Get your dd to make a list of what she wants?

SnoringHappily · 13/12/2024 20:49

Thank you these are all good suggestions, I hadn't though of garlic bread or fruit salad. I'd like to make it a bit nice but stuck for ideas. It's a strange age, too. Any other ideas for this birthday tea? They will be truly too old for games party bags and such things? I don't want to embarrass her but put a nice spread on and leave them to it.

At this time of year I'd do a hot chocolate station. You can jazz it up as much as you want.

bead bracelets making.

You can buy starter pack of 'seed beads' online and it's a fun activity to do after the food.

Garlic bread
Bought pizza margarita
Oven chips
Crisps
Salad with tomatoes, cheese cubes, pineapple
Bought sausage rolls
Ham, mayonnaise or ham sandwiches made with rolls, cut in halves or quarters

Ice cream station with sauces and bowls of toppings?

BrendaSmall · 13/12/2024 21:03

At 13, I’d ask my daughter what her and her friends like to eat, well I know 2 of my daughters would ask for curry with all the sides, and my other would ask for a pasta dish
