Please come and tell me your favourite one.

I don't drink it and need to buy a couple of bottles for class presents so am in need of some ideas.

Thank you 🙂 🥂🥂

What is your price range?

That said, are these teacher gifts? Unless you know someone well socially (as in you hang out drinking with them fairly regularly), i personally would give alcohol a swerve. I’m a recovering alcoholic (absolutely no one in my professional life would know that though, definitely not my students) and while it doesn’t make me want to drink to get booze as a gift, it does irritate me when people just throw a bottle my way, because it feels like they just haven’t put much thought into it to get me something I’d actually enjoy. It’s like getting a man’s lynx body spray set. Like what am I even going to do with that?

A lovely card would be very much appreciated though.

Not from Italy, but a similar thing - Cremant de Jura.

Not from Italy either, Freixenet.

From Italy - at last- Veneto region "Bortolomiol Prosecco Prior Brut"

Believe it or not, I don't drink alcohol, but these are the favourites of prosecco lovers that I know. In fact I have bought them for their pressies! So that's all I know....

I like this one - Aldi organic

FutureFry · 13/12/2024 20:55

M&S Cremant de Bourgogne

lionloaf · 13/12/2024 21:05

Aldi organic Prosecco. I swear it doesn’t give you a hangover! It’s fab and about £7 a bottle.

RosieLeaf · 13/12/2024 21:13

M&S Cremant or Waitrose Prosecco (with the blue label)

Ooh yeah, a cremant beats Prosecco any day in my book

Spaceid · 13/12/2024 21:15

Prosecco is very different to cava and cremant. It’s like comparing coke to lemonade just because they are fizzy! Do you particularly want a Prosecco or just any sparkling wine?

Lochroy · 13/12/2024 21:17

What's the budget per bottle?

SparklyCyanNewt · 13/12/2024 21:20

Sainsbury's do an own brand that's nice. I always serve it at parties and never had any complaints. Regularly makes it into the newspapers as a good choice

CymruChris · 13/12/2024 21:22

La Giosia - the rose one is excellent!

Mossstitch · 13/12/2024 21:28

Valdo with the orange label, about £8.50.......I always get that for Xmas day.

Patienceinshortsupply · 13/12/2024 21:29

Not a Prosecco but Mirabeau do a La Folie Rose which is a Rose sparkling wine - it's absolutely gorgeous, and the bottle is lovely too.

SnoopySantaPaws · 13/12/2024 21:36

@mindutopia

Most parents won't 'know' most teachers, to know what they'd enjoy as a prevent, but realise a teacher doesn't need any more 'best teacher' anything!! (Beyond their first couple of years). Food is mostly not a good idea.

but alcohol, most will enjoy or be able to serve visitors or regift.

maybe parents should just stop with Christmas Gifts for Teachers???

or just club together & get vouchers. But then the whinging starts about where from/how much.... it's harder bloody work than family gifts!!

SoMentallyDrained · 13/12/2024 21:53

Literally says 'for class parents' in the OP

Lykia · 13/12/2024 21:56

If you buy Prosecco make sure is says DOGC on the neck of the wine bottle.

Personally I prefer Crémant.

Frosty1000 · 13/12/2024 21:57

Yes we're clubbing together and getting spa vouchers, afternoon tea vouchers etc but I'm sharing the buying with another mum as well have 8 😳😳😳 to buy for - don't get me started on that!

Anyway a fellow teacher who knows the particular people say prosecco as one of the presents.

So I'm tasked with this.

Thanks for the ideas everyone!

Aldi one is lovely very light and bubbly and the bottle looks posher than it is

2chocolateoranges · 13/12/2024 22:13

I’m a bit fussy with Prosecco but my favourite is Freixenet.

MrsPeterHarris · 13/12/2024 22:30

If they like prosecco, please don't get cremant. It tastes totally different & in my view isn't particularly nice! Prosecco is much better!

I agree with those saying La Gioiosa, Freixenet & also Canti

stayathomer · 13/12/2024 22:32

Got one that my brother won in a hamper once, the giver told them it was insanely expensive. It was amazing! The one we opened afterwards and it didn’t touch it. Didn’t get the name so there is no point to this story but Graham Norton has one out that’s on special all over the place so may not be a bad idea as I’d say most people want to try it!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/12/2024 22:39

Don't buy Cremant if it's Prosecco they like.

The Waitrose one is nice - it comes in tiny, medium and normal size bottles

Sainsbury's Taste the Difference

The M&S one

One that they sell in Morrissons with an orange label - can't remember the brand, but it's lovely

Ooh - I think Canti might be the delicious orange label one.
