What to do for the best?

Single mum to 6 children & supposed to be buying a house in the not too distant future.

Abusive ex husband has just taken a huge pay cut (no idea why) and now pays less maintenance. As a result, my mortgage offer has gone down substantially.

I've looked into shared ownership but I'm not eligible.

Previous marital home is up for sale but there's no interest in it whatsoever. Will hardly get any equity out of it when it eventually sells after I've paid my legal aid fees back.

The children and I are currently living in a large detached house in a nice area of the town we fled to, but it's private rented.

Once the money comes through from the house sale, if I don't use it to purchase a house, my universal credit will stop.

I've worked my arse off and saved up to the maximum allowed on universal credit.

I just want security for my children and feel so trapped :(

Any ideas I might have missed?

Thanks xx

Why didn’t you stay in the home and then if your husband needed money from the mortgage what he’s paid into that could be negotiated? Didn’t your solicitor? Try to do that?

Staying wasn't an option. I moved into a refuge for our safety.

The divorce and financials are done now x
