Vinted sellers returns help pls

Having a nightmare with Vinted (I should have learnt my lesson before 😕).

I've been sold a speaker that's clearly used and not new as in the description and photo, now deleted. Since buying the seller has been left some negative feedback which wasn't there at the time.

I need to return it as it was expensive and I can't afford to lose the money. I've raised that there is a problem and they have replied offering to print a postage label.

The problem is they don't appear to have taken any action on their side- on eBay there would be a confirmation of the return but on Vinted I don't know. I've only ever returned a five pound top in Vinted so the stakes were low, now they're not so I don't want to make a mistake and lose my chances to return as we all know with Vinted if you miss a deadline or do something wrong, that's it and you've lost your money.

So for the experienced Vinted sellers, what exactly should I be expecting from them in the returns process? Is there some kind of confirmation of accepting the return? Is it safe to complete the return via a label they send me? They are dishonest, they have deleted the original listing to hide that they sent me a different speaker, so I have to be careful not to be scammed out of my money.

Thanks for any help. I didn't need this at the moment.

I think even if you do return it you won't get your money back on this one

EBay would refund you themselves but Vinted isn't like that

amoreoamicizia · 13/12/2024 12:01

Oh really 😮 Why wouldn't I get money back? I have had a refund for "not as described" through Vinted before.

So after finding another thread on here it seems the seller has to click to ask for a return on their side, is that right?

Anyone? I really need to know, someone reading must know the answer 😔

I returned an item that wasn’t as described. It was very straight forward, just make sure you do everything on vinted. Don’t let them send you a shipping label by email for example - the return needs to be raised via vinted.

Can you use this route?

The seller will have received a message from Vinted telling them you are not happy with the item and asking the seller how they want to resolve this - the seller gets a drop down box with usually two options 1) buyer returns item and then gets a refund or 2) seller gives a refund and doesn’t want the item back.

The seller needs to select "return" and then decide if they are going to pay postage or you are. Vinted terms and conditions say that the buyer must pay for the return but I believe there is an option for the seller to pay (some people say there is, some don't).

You will get your refund when the parcel has been received by the seller and they have clicked a box to confirm that they have it.

Thanks, it seems that a refund request on Vinted can be settled with the seller or via Vinted, and I'm on the "directly with seller" route. It's a bit unclear and weird like lots of things about Vinted. I wouldn't ever buy something relatively valuable again on Vinted, I hadn't realised/taken into account the level of risk. This isn't some viscose skirt 😩

Thanks, @Pineapplewaves , you're a star ⭐ 🥰

I really appreciate that you all helped me as I'm just having one of "those weeks" where you become so stressed that even reading T&Cs is sending you over the edge 😬🤩

OP posts:
amoreoamicizia · 13/12/2024 20:54

The seller says they can't do anything because their account has been restricted and they want to send me a return label in the chat. That's risky for me, isn't it? What should I do?

😞 I'm so sad about this. This year has been a disaster for me and now there's this to round it off.

It does seem a bit odd. Can you contact Vinted and check what they are saying?

amoreoamicizia · 13/12/2024 21:22

I mean, they seem nice enough and if they were trying to scam me surely they wouldn't be agreeing to a return?

OP posts:
PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 13/12/2024 21:33

When you received the item, and you were asked if you accepted the item, did you click 'problem with order' or 'I have an issue'?

amoreoamicizia · 13/12/2024 21:35

I honestly can't remember which it was. It is suspended for now, though.

OP posts:
Allthehorsesintheworld · 13/12/2024 21:39

Take lots of photos of the speaker, its box showing all the faults and after you’ve parcelled it up,for return .

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 13/12/2024 21:50

If you accepted the order when it arrived and didn't report an issue, then you probably won't be able to return the item with the protection of vinted. If you return the item - how will the seller refund you? I you accepted the order then it can't be done through vinted, as far as I know/

amoreoamicizia · 13/12/2024 21:58

Luckily I haven't accepted the order. I'll have to try and ask Vinted to look into it, I guess.

I have never used vinted but when I had trouble a few years ago on eBay the seller seemed really nice even when I spoke to her on the phone but never refunded me. I eventually got the money bank by asking my bank to do a charge back. I would think you need to keep your claim for a refund as much within Vinted as possible regardless of how nice the seller seems. Good luck.
