Awful hip/leg pain

For the past 4 nights I have been woken up by a horrible pain/ache in my left hip and the outside of my thigh. I am barely getting any sleep because of this. I’m not 100% well with a cold at the moment so I’m not sure if this could have anything to do with it. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Driving me mad how tired I am because I can’t sleep

Just to add, it’s completely fine throughout the day, it starts around 1am

Osteoarthritis? I have osteoarthritis in both hips,worse in my right one. During the day it's manageable to the point where I can sometimes forget about it,but at night, within a couple of hours of lying down it starts to hurt like hell. I find this rather odd,as you'd think it would be less likely to hurt once I'm resting it!

I get this from time to time op. I usually go to an osteopath and he sorts it out.

Posted too soon I meant to say my osteopath thought it might be bursitis. It flares up about once a year and can go on for months if I don't get it treated.
