Swollen arm

Tonight my son showed me his arm with this swollen area. Said a full plastic water bottle with a squeezy top came flying at him today full force and whacked him off the arm.
I was maybe expecting a bruise but this amount of swelling? It hurts him so much when pressed and he is having difficulty straightening his arm. When his arm is just lying there there's no pain until he tries to straighten it.
Would this be a trip to an and e or see how he goes? I don't know if I should be worried about the bone or whether this is just tissue damage.
Just after advice I know mumsnet isn't a doctors office

Thanks

A bag of peas/frozen veg wrapped in a tea towel and see if the cold helps calm down the inflammation and see how dc is in the morning. Make sure you don’t have the frozen food or ice brick in direct contact with the skin.

If it hasn't gone down in the morning I'd want it xrayed
