So frustrated with social media

ProssecoSparkle · 12/12/2024 20:47

Can anyone please help. I am past frustration with social media. I set up new social media pages this year for my new business and honestly I am just posting stuff out into the air with a bunch of crickets I think.

The analytics are telling me that no one or very few people are seeing my posts. There's no post interactions or views.

All tips much appreciated 🙏

What platforms are you posting on, what kind of content/who are you targeting?

ProssecoSparkle · 12/12/2024 20:54

I am using Bluesky, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Ticktock. My content is self catering in the Highlands and Perthshire (not sure if I am allowed to say that? Mn please remove if its not allowed) so pictures of properties and places of interest. My target market is families and couples.

Social media only works when you have followers and engagement, to get that you need to drive people to your social media, so you need to do things like being featured on a blog/vlog that has a following, engaging in networking events that share your social media handles. Run giveaways at events that require people to engage with your page. You have also gone with a bit of a splattergun approach by the look of it and you're on everything. Pick one or 2 and use those a lot, make sure your content is appealing and encourages people to share it or interact with it.

I can’t comment on twitter/bluesky, as I only use the video platforms for work, I am not a marketer, just an editor for content creators, so hopefully someone else will chime in with more of that side.

for tiktok and ig, it’s got to be fun/interesting just pictures are a bit boring unless they’re super amazing photos but I’d still put them to music and some text. You need to interact with a lot of people, comment on explore Scotland posts and tags type thing. On TikTok bit late for it now as you’ve already got the account but a lot of creators like to not post on a new account for a week or two and just like things in their niche to basically heat up the account.

currently your essentially just putting out leaflets onto the internet in a way, and most leaflets in the postbox get ignored or binned, you need to offer more excitement, lots of the explore Scotland accounts are huge because of the beautiful videography and the whole come live the dream vibes or more info like mini tours of local places with voiceover (don’t use ai ones) that use the format of an interesting hook to get people past that one second mark (people often scroll by after a second or less) and slowly build up a community by interacting with others

Lots of good advice thank you. I have teamed up with other businesses who promote my social media accounts. I could do giveaways like a two night stay or something. I do interact with other accounts in Scotland and UK wide. I do get big companies liking my comments on their posts is that a good thing?

I really like the leaflet point you make preok. I could make more videos and have bought a drone to use once the weather is better.

Edited to add my ticktock yesterday got 35 likes. It was a video of a old Castle in winter frost with Scottish music over it.

I’m out at the minute but can link when I’m hone, but if you just search on YouTube there’s a lot of free social media advice on YouTube, Reddit etc on how to craft short form content, it’s why lots of short form starts with a question or kind of an insane hook as it’s really about getting the algorithm to push you (especially on TikTok) towards an audience, if your posts always get scrolled by on TikTok etc it won’t be pushed to a bigger audience. Watch time retention is king basically

ProssecoSparkle · 12/12/2024 21:16

Really appreciate your help preok. Will have a look on YouTube.

In regards to Instagram make sure you use trending audio on reels to reach outside your followers and use carousels (with music) rather than single posts as they get pushed out further too.

Make sure you have strong hooks to engage within the first few seconds and call to actions on every post.

Do you run ads and boost posts?

JollyHollyMe · 12/12/2024 21:29

What is your business?
You are a holiday cottage rental agency?

ProssecoSparkle · 12/12/2024 21:33

@JollyHollyMe I am a holiday home lettings agency.

@SnowLeopard5 I run ads on Facebook. Will put your Instagram tips into action.

Update from last night.

I took on the helpful advice you all gave me last night and put it into action today. My posts got seen by non followers, I got saves, likes, shares and a few new followers. Obviously this is still all new to me and I am still learning and trying to figure things out. Will keep trying and researching.

I think maybe somewhere I was going wrong was putting in a location.
