Anyone knowledgable about CAMHS?

Hi everyone.

My DC recently had an assessment at CAMHS and I have just received the report from that. In the report, there is a “plan” section, and in that section, it discusses advice and strategies that were shared with me and my DC at the appointment, as well as an online resource we can access for support. There is no mention of any further appointments.

Also, at the very end of the letter, there is some information on what to do in a crisis, followed by some COVID 19 info (about not attending appointments with covid, and then a section for New Referrals/Re-referring. Under that heading, it says “as agreed at discharge” and then some info.

Do you think this mean my DC has been discharged and won’t receive any further support? I am okay with that, if that is the case, as they have obviously deemed it’s not required, but I just want to make sure I understand what’s going on so I can explain to my child.

Grateful for any advice.

you should be notified if actively discharged

it can depend on what they're under CAMHS for and if they need continued support for things
eg eating disorders at a certain weight they want frequent reviews/weigh ins

Okay… thank you. It’s complex, because my dc’s issues have been deemed to be physical as opposed to mental health related by the initial assessment. However, their weight is low. I’m not sure whether they would continue seeing DC simply for their weight, especially since DC has already been seen by the paediatric team. Maybe I’ll just wait and see if we ever receive another appointment letter.

I’d phone and ask them to clarify.
