Gathering valuables

If you’re on sick and leaving the work place. Is it deemed okay to collect things outside of work hours while on the sick note. I leave at the end of December but need to collect my stuff from my desk.

Have you access to the place outside working hours or would someone have to come in especially to let you in? Do you have to return keycards/keys/valuables?

I have access to the building. I’d be going at around 5 pm. But if others are still there and see me can I be in trouble? Yeah I’m going back to basically leave all that stuff

Clear it with an manager would be my advise. Are you leaving the job? Depending on whether you have access to sensitive or important company documents they may not want you onsite out of hours in case they could accuse you have copying them etc. It depends on the industry.

I left my job, and ultimately retired, due to ill health. My manager personally boxed up everything in my desk, having asked me if there were items I particularly wanted her to look out for. The box was couriered to me.

I gained a few things in the process including a heavy duty stapler and hole punch, desk fan, etc.

Why don't you ask them first/ They may save you the stress of having to go back in.

Why would you skulk in, and why would you 'be in trouble'? Surely you'd just let your manager know you were coming by to drop things off and clear your desk?

They won't want you on site alone, or if anyone would need to stay late specifically for you.

What's the issue with going in working hours?
