I've always hated these things.
Mine is on mute and I can see notifications which are always sociable not life and death important stuff as the managers have a chat for that.
Today I was told not to post too early as it may annoy others.
Is it just me that hates them and thinks they should strictly be for professional use about work stuff that the team needs to know.?
Or mute them and look when u get time or can be bothered.

Mine is on mute too. It's mostly social, people post in evenings and at weekends sometimes (we work office hours).
Post whenever suits you, if people have an issue with it they can mute or leave the chat.

We don't work 9-5 so some one is always off or in later.
It's only happy b days,or good wishes.
Mine was a thank you while I remembered.

Best thing with work group chats is to message during typical working hours. Were you thanking the group or just one person in the group. If it was just one person in the group I can see how it would be annoying.

Fair enough.
Secret Santa so potentially anyone.

If post work related stuff between 9-5 and non work related stuff between 8am and 8pm

Well if it is just for people's social life and it is annoying you, then leave.
