Nearly 60 and needing eye shadow advice

So basically I haven’t worn eye shadow for years - think back when blue was in fashion!

But I’m making more of an effort and have bought some today - no idea how and when to use it though. I have very hooded eyes. And don’t want it to look too out there.

any tips for tutorials?

Following - I'm 34 and end up like Gene Simmons from KISS 🙈

Depends what colour your hair is.
(being a woman of a certain age too) I always go for browns and definitely matte, not sparkly.
If your eyes are hooded, raise the shadow up so it frames the eye rather than just applying on the lid, it'll open the eye up.

I recommend Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics Palette and use a lighter shade on the outer part of the eye, under the eyebrow. Then a darker shade on the actual lid.

Use mascara, I like Benefit Volumiser and frame your eyes by smoothing out your eyebrows. I use a little vaseline for this. You can buy an eyebrow brush.

As always. Ask a gay man.

I just watched that vid...he was no help at all.
Basically he is saying anyone past the age of 40, dont bother. 😆

Well, he's 46. He's a bit rude but sometimes it takes a crook to catch a crook if you know what I mean. I'm watching another vidéo of his and one side of his face looks like a woman's. Which is quite good going, considering.

Check out Beauty and the Boutique on FB. Loads of great videos and tips about how to make up hooded eyes. Since watching, I’ve started putting my eyeliner on the inner waterline rather than on my eyelid. I also put eyeshadow much higher almost near my brow, to create a false eyelid crease.

Voila OP!

Thank you for posting this. I'm following her now.

And thank you OP for starting this thread. I'm not far behind you in age and I've found it helpful.

Just seen the photos of your eye, do you have heterochromia? My DH has it too Wink

Couldn’t be doing with any of her telly stuff, but Trinny’s make up line is very good and the tutorials are ace:

Lots of colour options and very mindful of mature skin - get out there and rock it!
