Ev company car

Hello,

Does anyone know

I'm with octopus energy

I want to get an EV for my next company car as the tax savings are considerable

I would charge it at home (as well as out and about as I do lots of long distance driving)

When I charge it at home does the EV part come through as a separate part on my bill

I would need to submit the cost to my employer as it would be company millage

I was going to sign up to the octopus EV tariff and also use octopus to install the EV wall charger

Be aware that electricity out on the road can be very expensive (65 p kWh, ie nearly 10 x the cost at home seems standard) unless you have time to seek out cheaper options, which might mean the standard 7 ppm HMRC rate doesn't cover what it costs you.

Electric is very expensive on the road Vs petrol

However with the decrease in company car tax and the cheap home charging

It should still work out considerably cheaper for me to run an EV car Vs a diesel car

(Though theoretically if I could not charge at home and could only charge using public chargers the cost would be eye watering and when people eventually do have to swap and can not charge at home the costs will be hard to swallow for a lot of people as in there commute to work will be a lot more expensive than the petrol equivalent)

The main reason it's good for me is because company car tax is so expensive and I don't have to pay for the car itself so that's where I'm saving most of the money

Agree with @Hoppinggreen . I'm with Octopus and have a company EV. The bill does not show the charge separately

Thanks for everyone's comments

I have to have a meeting with my manager regarding an EV car

I now have a lot better idea of what is practical and how to approach this

I'm with Octopus and I have a zappi at home. I use the Zappi website to download the charging report. DH and I both have EVs. Mine is a company car. I recharge all of my electric charging to the company at the cost inc vat pkwh. I have the cheap night rate so have to use the report to differentiate the two and put an expenses bill in for what is used.

We are with Octopus, although you can not see the cost separately on the main bill you can see it in a separate app. We have a Ohme charger and it tells us exactly how much power we have put into the car from home.
