I have 5 dc with an assortment of medical issues. So I find it helpful when they have an appointment to take a photo of the dc in the waiting room so when I am asked when dc last had a hearing test or saw ENT then I can just check my photos.
Anyway, my photo memory thing helpfully informed me that it's now 3 years since I took my then 8 year old to see the plastic surgeon who put him on the waiting list for an operation. In the photo he looked so little, and he was in his primary school uniform which of course makes him look so much younger and is a reminder of how long this has been going on. We have had 2 dates where we were told the operation was happening and then it got cancelled both times. We have had an online meeting with other children who have had the operation. Ds is now reluctant to do things that involve planning in advance in case we get a date for the operation. He wanted to pull out of the school play this week because he is worried he will let the rest of the cast down if he has to pull out nearer the time. Normally I wouldn't tell a child of his age he needed to have an operation at this stage but because we've been given a date twice, in November 2022 and March this year, he knows all about it.
I'm just so fed up about it, it's now been 25% of his life he has been on this waiting list.
