Does anyone else's school do a year 2 sleep over at school. My child's school have been doing it for years . I just wondering if other schools do it?

Not something I've come across at any of the schools I've worked at or that my dc have been to.

At school?

GarlandaChynoweth · 06/12/2024 22:35

Ours used to do a Year 3 one but now they usually camp elsewhere for a night instead.

I haven't heard of it before.

Avie29 · 06/12/2024 22:37

Yep they do it in year 3 here though, normally chippy for dinner all the kids camp down on mats in the hall to sleep and watch a film on the projector, we pick them up after school the next day xx

Not for school but I used to run Rainbow Guides and we do them from 5, so Reception/Year 1 depending on when their birthday is.

Why the question? Are you concerned about something?

Yes weekend residential at a youth hostel at the school my mum worked at in year 2. Full week at a PGL in year 6

Labraradabrador · 06/12/2024 22:46

Ours do a one night residential in y3. Mine also did sleep away camp in the summer between y2 and y3. I was really apprehensive, but they both loved it, including my ASD child who struggles with sleep and change in general.

My daughter used to go to sleepovers at her gymnastics club they used to run them as fundraisers and they would watch a film, do party dances, get chippy etc. Think she was 7 when she started going.

DD's school did it in Y4. But the Beavers in her Scout group do sleepovers for the older ones from 7, that would be Y2.

A while back now but my girls primary did yr2 sleepover at school for one night. Yr 4 2 night sleepover a local camp. Yr 5 day trip to France. Yr 6 , a 4 night residential trip.
Was pitched perfectly as seemed to build the children's confidence up in stages
