Dental implant- what's normal?!

Hi, I had a dental implant placed 1 week ago. Recovery hadn't been too bad, but then Wednesday/Thursday I had a bad stomach bug (what timing!!!). Tonight I've started having mild pain in my jaw and I'm terrified the site will have gotten infected from the illness. Does anyone have experience of if it's normal to still have some pain after 1 week or should I be worried ?
Thanks!

Have you been vomitting ?

Did your dentist give you a course of antibiotics to take for 5 days and did you complete the course ?

One thing you can do now and over the weekend is to rinse your mouth gently with some warm salty water. This wont do you any harm, whatever is wrong.

Thank you! I was vomiting, but not too much, and tried to rinse my mouth after. I got a large dose of antibiotics before the implant but not a course to take after it. I will do that, thank you!

It could be that as you are a bit run down from the bug, it’s slowing down the healing.

But I think it’s worth contacting your dentist to check - they should have given you a phone number to contact if you have any worries. My dentist gave me a sheet of paper with all the follow up instructions on it and that has his mobile number.

There’s no point in you worrying all weekend if a 5 min phone call would put your mind at rest.

Thanks so much for your advice, I will try and contact her this morning. She wrote her mobile number down too, Ive just felt too guilty to contact her. It's not gotten any worse over night just hoping it's nothing . It's my little boys birthday party today too 🙈 xx

Did you hear back from your dentist? I understand you don’t want to bother her at the weekend but you shouldn’t be in pain now after 8 days. I mean it will feel a bit sore if you touch it but you shouldn’t have to take painkillers.

I hope your LOs party went well.
