Have you ever looked for a sign, and got one?

I was just watching Danny Jones on I'm a celebrity. He was in tbe. And mcfly.

He said that he didn't like the name mcfly.

And the other members of the band got him to watch back to the future to show him where the name came from.

He said that in the film, he saw the name D Jones" (same as his name Danny Jones) on a truck in the film. So he decided it was a good sign from the universe to use the name as a band name.

I've heard of other people do this. In my last job someone told me that he asked the universe for a very specific sign that it would be good for him to take this job, and he got a sign.

Have you ever asked for a sign and got one?

I

That doesn't make any sense. The van was presumably already in the film before he watched it, so that's not a sign. And Jones is one of the most common surnames in the English speaking world, so it's not some massive coincidence. I haven't heard of them, but Mcfly is a shit name for a band, objectively. He could still have suggested a better name from the film if he was woo enough to believe in that stuff.

Yeah the name was already in the film,

It's more that the universe gets you to see things at the right time, to give you a sign.

The universe is not an entity and it cannot grant you wishes. Deciding that a chance event is a specific sign just for you is a very poor decision making process. It's also abdicating responsibility for decision making, in a way, by making the decision the "responsibility" of the "universe".

That's your opinion and that's fine.

I have heard other people talk about signs and coincidences though.

I'm sure they do. Doesn't make it a real phenomenon though.

Isn't that confirmation bias though? Like if your lucky number is 44 and you notice it and think it's a good omen but you've conveniently ignored all the other numbers you've seen that day. Or when you buy a new car and suddenly notice lots of other people drive the exact same car.

If you say to yourself "I'm going to look for a sign" you'll probably find something that suits

If you don't find anything you won't tell your story, so you only hear from people that get their "sign", which makes it seem like everyone does

Thought this was about the film Signs, but yes love that film, signs everywhere
