Every Xmas i do a hamper type thing. That's full of things you would use in the bathroom ie deodorant. Bathing stuff, skin care . Hair stuff etc its about 30.00 worth of stuff from the pound shop. I wasn't going to do it this year but adult ds has asked me to.

I was thinking If I should also do a cleaning type hamper. Or would that be a bit shit? Not sure someone would want cleaning products for xmas 😅 ds lives on his own

I’d worry that might be a bit… pointed? Like if someone gave me bleach and surface spray I’d be thinking they thought my house could do with a good clean! 😂

helibirdcomp · 05/12/2024 21:09

Ask him which he would prefer

My daughter for her last bday had a nice tub with her name on and it was full of cleaning products, she was 12 lol and has always loved cleaning, she was absolutely obsessed with the pressie. Maybe if you made it with 1 brand and all the same smell so it looks nice too, id love that haha xxx

🤣 ds would not think that he would just see it as practical . Like the personal bathroom stuff. Does not mean he smells. But cleaning stuff just feels a bit naff .

I don't im going to do it . Because it does actually seem naff now I have said it

He actively wants the pound shop bathroom stuff so maybe he’d see the cleaning products in a similarly pragmatic way. It’s another 30 quid he doesn’t need to spend throughout the year rather than getting a jumper or something that just sits. It also saves him having to think or remember, which to most men I know is the best gift of all. I actually think it’s a nice idea. Maybe get some stuff he won’t have necessarily thought to buy himself? My mother in law always buys me aerosol glass cleaner. I’d far rather that than stuff I don’t need.

He can have both does not need to be a choice. But I know 100% he wants the bathroom /personal one.

Would he want a store cupboard hamper? Things like tins of tuna, mayonnaise, ketchup, jars of pasta sauce, of coffee etc?

Get him what he's asked for, the bathroom personal selection.

£30 worth of toiletry items from poundland must last him a several years! Is that all you give him? How old is he? Wouldn't bother with cleaning products. Would he like something like a bottle of something, socks, scarf?

@SuperfluousHen I too am wondering if this is real or not! 😂

I couldn’t find the right words… 🤷🏼‍♀️🤣

Why not a Personal Hygiene Hamper?

Ear Wax Removal kit,
Nose Hair Clippers,
Black-head Vacuum,
Anti-Flatulence Biscuits,
Toe Spreaders,
Intimate Deodorant (Extra Strong),

Yea i dont see a problem with it, chuck something nice in like the scrub daddy sponges or something, make it look abit more exciting than it really is lol, id love a gift like that, a nice candle or something in there to light afterwards, you can make it whatever you want really with adding little things that are nice for after the cleaning or even the febreeze for afterwards, god im sad lmao but you get what im trying to say xxx

Why would it not be real. It does last him a long time . He said the other day its last him ages. I normally put in it . A few bubble baths , few shower gels, hand wash, shaving foam /gel, razors , tooth paste . Floss . Shampoo . Conditioner, mouth wash. Facial scrub . Face wipes was puffs nail clippers . It soon adds up of getting a few of each item

STOP! 😂

I'm rolling on the floor now. But you forgot to add the 'Back, crack and sack waxing kit'.

I think if you do a cleaning hamper do some nicer bits Method range, scrub daddy sponges etc in a trug.

I do DD a coffee bundle with lots of different flavored sachets and a new travel coffee cup and she wants a ramen one as well so I'll buy her lots of bits and a nice ramen bowl, chop sticks and spoon set.

If your DS likes it and is the practical sort why not. - I probably would get a nicer after shave or similar as well though not just cleaning and hygiene bits.

Mudflaps · 05/12/2024 22:20

Ignore the sneers, some people really like practical gifts. It means your ds doesn't have to think about hygiene products probably for the year, as you know he likes the one you already get him I'd get him the second one, it'll be another thing he doesn't have to think about for months. I know my ds would like it and think I'll start doing the bathroom one for him along with the clothes I get because he detests clothes shopping.

MrsMoastyToasty · 05/12/2024 22:48

I've done a cleaning hamper as a housewarming gift. The hamper bit was actually a plastic caddy with a handle.

MarmaladeSideDown · 05/12/2024 23:21

I did a bundle for my dd one year, with an assortment of wildly different dangly car air fresheners. She loved it.

MyOneAndOnlyPostForTheChristmasTreeThread · 05/12/2024 23:23

A cleaning hamper would be my dream. I love trying all new stuff.

Yes I need a life lol. But it makes me happy!

She's going to, she just wants to know if this is a good idea AS WELL or not.

@Bundles22 how long has he lived on his own? How clean is his place ?

fivebyfivebuffy · 05/12/2024 23:40

My mum always did my stocking full of hygiene stuff especially when I was at uni
But nicer stuff than I would buy myself so salon hair products, a few lush bits etc
I loved it!
If someone got me a cleaning hamper now I would be really happy with it as a practical gift

NewName24 · 05/12/2024 23:47

Ignore the sneers @Bundles22

I think it is a lovely idea.

Not sure about the cleaning products for Christmas, but I think it is a great 'housewarming' present for someone when they move into their first home.
