What ipad do I need

DC 14year old has asked for an ipad for Christmas. I don't have an iPhone and know nothing about them. They want to play roblox and do homework on it through various apps etc from school.
What ipad should I go for or avoid? There are some for 299 on Very from 2022 range. Are they obsolete now? Budget will not go any higher, should I try and sway them to a laptop?

Does it need to be an iPad or could an android tablet do the job just as well?

A 2022 iPad will be fine. They don’t go out of day that quickly!

She has an amazon thing and says its rubbish. It's probably 5 or 6 years old though

I use a 2022 10.9” for proofreading work, it’s still fine! Not sure about Roblox, but it should be fine for homework!
