Quitting Vaping

frankie001 · 03/12/2024 23:37

I started smoking in my mid 30s and have used vapes to quit. I’m now at a point where I realise I’ve swapped one addiction for another.

I have decided to quit vaping and am using lozenges which are helping.

does anyone want to join me in a support thread, or have any tips they could share?

I think the lozenges will be the same replacing one addiction with another, I have a friend who's chewed nicotine gum for 20 years.

Have you tried reducing the strength of your liquid gradually?

I've also heard good things about the little gadgets like this!

I can't help though really as I'm just glad to be off smoking & happy to vape although I have reduced my nicotine to the lowest level.

Thank you! Well done for stopping smoking! I’m hoping that the lozenges will be easier than the vape!

Hi @frankie001 , how's it going so far? I started vaping a couple of years ago - I started bringing them to the pub when I was meeting friends so I wouldn't steal cigarettes from others after a few drinks. Two years later and I'm puffing away from literally the moment I wake up! 🙄 I'd love to stop - how are you finding the lozenges?

frankie001 · 06/12/2024 23:35

I’m doing ok! I’ve already lengthened time between lozenges, and am not missing it. The lozenges really help with the cravings.

thank you for asking, and hope you manage to give them up too.

I'm using a nicorette inhalator, and I find that I'm chewing it more than needing the nicotine. I like the fact that I can chew it wherever I am as it's not a vape. I also know that in time, it'll go by the wayside as I'm starting to forget about it here and there.

Hey

i I know this post hasn’t been active for a while but wanted to check in and see how you guys are doing?

I’ve been vaping for 3 years, and I absolutely hate it. I stopped cold turkey last year for 45 days and felt incredible, then my in laws visited and caused me to relapse by pissing me off 😂😂 I have patches and the spray ready to start in a few days. Any tips?
x

frankie001 · 24/03/2025 20:13

I’m still using the lozenges. I have purchased a few vapes though! My usage is still less than it used to be, so am still a work in progress.

@frankie001 thats great well done you for lessening your vape usage! I get so wound up with myself - knowing I’ve quit before and back to the start all over again 😂 just need to push through! I have patches ready to go, do you think I should start tomorrow morning? X

frankie001 · 24/03/2025 20:33

If you feel ready to! If you’re not in the head space it’s so much harder!!! Go for it!

@frankie001 i do feel determined! And finances are tight right now so stopping vaping would help so much! Only thing is - we’re heading down to visit the in-laws in 2 weeks 😂🙈 I reckon by then I’d be fully past the intense cravings? Last time after day 5 I was fine x

frankie001 · 24/03/2025 20:41

It sounds like you’ve got this!!

@SCeee how is it going?

OP posts:
SCeee · 26/03/2025 19:05

@frankie001 really well so far! I’m nearly 2 days vape free! Patches are definitely helping, I still have cravings but no desire to actually go into a shop and buy one! My husband is doing it with me too as he vapes and we feel so much more positive this time around! Don’t get me wrong, still having the side affects like stomach pain, increased appetite and fatigue but I expected that. Pray for me that this continues 🥰🥰 how’s your journey going? Xx

frankie001 · 27/03/2025 09:37

Well done! I’m still on both but am still using the vape less and less

Hi can I join this thread? I was a smoker until my early 30s and stopped with vaping. I've been vaping ever since, stopping during pregnancies, but stupidly starting several months later. I use disposable vapes and wanted to buy a new one today but my local shop has stopped selling them, seeing they'll be banned from June. I had bought some nicotine lozenges a few weeks ago, so decided to start them today. I have one in my mouth right now but I'm still craving my vape. Is that even normal?
