Where in the UK do you think is a nice place to live, but where rents and mortgages are still relatively cheap?

@Turmerictolly Does not have to be that cheap. I had not stated a budget as I did not want people recommending tiny flats in more expensive places. I wanted somewhere cheaper where I can get a decent family house for my money.

Ah that changes the question - what do you consider a decent family home? How many bedrooms? Do you need off street parking? Schools?

If you were considering the West Midlands, I would say Halesowen. But I have no clue as to your budget.
Certainly good sixth form college options. Close to Clent and N worcs countryside with great road links. Close to motorways. Near enough to Birmingham so that you could go by bus or Uber for theatres and city things.
Town is reasonable but a bit run down like other towns. Big Asda. Because it's a built up area, lots of supermarket options.
Got a bit carried away there but I worked there for 20 years and the people are generally lovely.
